The last of the plots for the new DPIRD&GRDC HiRES project are in the ground at Kendenup. Thanks to @Stirlings2Coast crew for doing such a great job. Looking forward to better understanding rotation options in the HRZ
Exciting to see the first plots in the ground for our new HiRES project: assessing rotation options for the high rainfall zone. Kendenup site will be sown next week.

We've been very busy updating our crop sowing guide with lots of new information. Respond to the survey below to make sure we get the guide to you in the way that is most useful
@nig_michael We've only tried the double rate of peat directly on seed. Close as possible to seed will always give better nodulation. Rhizobia are acid-sensitive, so unfortunately injecting with fertiliser will limit their survival regardless of soil pH
@nig_michael Also, Reflex is registered on faba beans bother pre-seeding and PSPE. Up to 12 weeks of radish control. Post-emergent options are very limited, so suggest a strong knockdown or another crop choice if weeds are a major issue
@nig_michael Faba beans are more forgiving than other pulses when it comes to soil texture. They prefer to be wet rather than dry, so sandy soil in a drier year might make it difficult for them. DPIRD research has shown good nodulation results using a double rate of peat if pH is a bit iffy.
DPIRD 2022 variety guide is now available. Bonus info in the pulse section includes agronomy tips and tricks for lupin, chickpeas, faba beans, field peas, lentils and vetch. If you're old school, there will be hardcopies available from next week
2022 WA crop sowing guide is now available online.
The guide provides variety characteristics, disease ratings, & agronomic info for wheat, barley, canola, oats & pulses 🌱
