The part that caught my attention is the idea of making BTC productive without asking holders to give up self custody.

Yield is just the starting point.

If BTC can earn, be used as collateral, transact privately and stay secure for decades, that feels like a much bigger shift than just “Bitcoin DeFi.”

His own framing: the tech is stellar, what is needed now is more BTC capital flows and widespread marketing. He was already doing institutional BD on the side. The CEO seat gives that work the budget and the headcount. Build phase ended, distribution phase starts.

Satoshi upgrades 1 (PoX-5, July 30) shipped self-custodial Bitcoin staking. Genesis Bond, Sept 10: 21Shares, HashKey Cloud, UTXO Management, Sypher Capital. About 230 BTC active, BTC stays on L1 under a timelock.

The yield is not new emissions. It is BTC that Stacks miners pay to mine blocks, 4,200+ BTC distributed that way since 2021. The product packages an existing flow, it does not invent one.
