I’m giving a series of talks on faith and science at St. Laurence Catholic Church near Houston this weekend. “Trasancos represents a very rare bird, the scientist who did not cease to be a geek even after she got religion." https://t.co/zW6ZfNag1y
This video, like so many on this topic, contains exaggerations and half-truths. Catholics, please stop repeating these narratives.

New post-->"Fluid Dynamics and Suffering: Have You Ever Seen the Rain?" An editor once told me that every time a writer uses an equation, she loses 40% of her audience. I have no idea who calculated that, but please don’t click away. This post is lifechanging, and you should not die without reading it.

Letter #4 on my Substack. I decided to do a “Letters” section because sometimes I want to write about topics other than modern science, systematic philosophy, and Catholic dogmatic theology. I’m a mother too, and there are questions I had along the way. This one in particular has vexed me for years. Why is baptism delayed for a newborn?
There are no words for the kind of fear a mother suffers when she holds that baby in her arms at long last and desires with all her heart that this child receive what the Lord himself affirms is necessary for eternal salvation that will assure this child entry into eternal beatitude—Baptism—only to be told to wait a few weeks so the celebration can be communal.

New post: Catholics are permitted to interpret the science through the Young Earth Creation lens, but I strongly warn against doing so because, although it seems easier at first, it will set your kids up for an insurmountable dissonance as they mature in faith.

Under @SecKennedy's leadership, HHS is restoring integrity and transparency to organ procurement and transplant policy by putting patients’ lives first. These reforms are essential to restoring trust, ensuring informed consent, and protecting the rights and dignity of prospective donors and their families.
People ask if AI is conscious without defining that word, and then they continue on in ambiguity as if science will someday answer these mysterious concepts. Meanwhile, they act as if philosophy and theology are relics—and the concept of the human soul is ignored.
