One of the most influential figures in wrestling history passed on March 29, 2026. J Robinson competed for Oklahoma State and qualified for the 1972 Olympic Greco team before a legendary coaching career.
Robinson was an assistant under Gary Kurdelmeier and Dan Gable (1972-84) at the University of Iowa before leading Minnesota to NCAA team titles in 2001, 2002, and 2007. The Golden Gophers were the first team outside Iowa or Oklahoma to win multiple D1 NCAA titles in men’s wrestling.
@johnnidijulius@SportsNchsaa Not the divisions as to why kids in NC go 0-2, its other factors, essentially we are not a state that focuses on wrestling and some of our best kids leave for better competition and opportunities (I can name a few, I am sure you can too) Kids go for $$$ sports and the admins do 2
@MatScouts1 NOTE: Since 2022, the Hodge Trophy Voting Criteria has been based on four criteria:
-Record
-Dominance/Bonus-Point Percentage
-Quality of Competition
-Sportsmanship
Formerly, the trophy was awarded based on seven criteria (incl): # of Pins/Past credentials/Heart
@UGroin230262@ryder_block I deleted my post, because you said it first, but to add to it. Wrestling on a knee and backing up is a bad look: "In wrestling, stalling refers to a wrestler avoiding engagement or failing to actively pursue a scoring opportunity..." KID is still a Stud, no doubt.
Good news: @espn is giving a big push to the 2025 NCAA Wrestling Championship. For the first time, E60 has produced a one-hour special called "Game On: Journey to the NCAA Championship." The E60 show airs next week and features wrestlers and programs. Here is the promo:
