Technology can work for women in the informal sector if more trainings are carried out on how to use smart phones to do business.
#WEETalkUg@WEE_UG@IST_Uganda
@actionaiduganda@Wagubi1@STafumba@WEE_UG In-order for the women to use IT, there is need to address some of the barriers such as data charges and access to free internet by Government under NITA-U #WEETalkUG
Not all women in the informal sector can use technology because most of them lack knowledge and skills on how to use smart phones.
#WEETalkUg@IST_Uganda@WEE_UG
Yes they can. But the challenge is that most of the women in the informal sector do not have smart phones which is very challenging.
#WEETalkUg@WEE_UG@IST_Uganda
@actionaiduganda@bwiite@STafumba@WEE_UG Government should recognize co-operatives/unions and other women’s collectives that represent women informal workers and provide critical moral and material support especially in the times of crisis.
#WEETalkUg
@actionaiduganda@bwiite@STafumba@WEE_UG The government should enhance procurement from women-led co-operatives/collective enterprise and ease entry barriers while building enterprise support system to increase profitability of women-run informal enterprises.
#WEETalkUg
@STafumba@GovUganda@WEE_UG@IST_Uganda Grants have been provided, but it falls in the wrong hands and it does not reach the people, probably the government should find a different way to reach these people. #WEETalkUG
Government should work closely with organizations like @IST_Uganda , @WEE_UG and @actionaiduganda that are already established to support women with small medium enterprises in the informal sector.
#WEETalkUg
@actionaiduganda@Wagubi1@bwiite@STafumba@WEE_UG The government should try to support these women in one way or the other like giving out some funds to these women like the way it was done for emyooga. But as of now the government hasn't done anything yet.
@actionaiduganda@Wagubi1@STafumba@WEE_UG There is need for the women in the informal business to also embrace the cooperative model going forward. This will help them access services such as credits and skills.#WEETalkUG
