JULY 23RD;

1. 1923:

Benny Leonard beats Lew Tendler over 15 at Yankee Stadium. First title fight ever held there. Around 58,000 in the building, $452,000 gate, a record for a non-heavyweight.

Their '22 fight was razor close. This one wasn't. Leonard made the adjustments and outboxed the southpaw clean.

Seven years he held that lightweight title.

2. 1988:

Tony Lopez takes the IBF super feather belt off Rocky Lockridge in Sacramento. His hometown. Ring Magazine Fight of the Year.

Lopez got dropped in the 8th. First time in his career. Got up and took the man's title anyway. Won the rematch in '89 too.

3. 2011:

Tyson Fury outpoints Derek Chisora for the British and Commonwealth.
