AOC on a movie that made her cry
PabloReports: When’s the last time a piece of art—film, music, whatever—made you cry?
AOC: Okay, let me go with the worst time one made me cry. I was on an airplane watching… what is that movie? The one about aliens with a linguist? Arrival. With Amy Adams.
I was on a plane. I was literally going to a rally or something like that. This was a while ago. And I was watching Arrival on the plane.
I had no idea that it was that emotional. And I don’t even cry like that at movies.
On the plane, sobbing, dude. I had to put sunglasses on.
Then the movie ends as the plane is landing. They go, “Bing bong,” whatever—seatbelt sign, you can unplug it. So everyone’s standing up, and I’m like… I put the sunglasses on. It was so embarrassing.
But really good. Really, really good.
Arrival.
Christopher Nolan says it will be at least 3 years before his next film releases.
“I definitely hit the limits of my own stamina & everybody’s stamina, I think. I mean, it’s ‘The Odyssey’, of course it should be difficult.”

Anne Hathaway admits the entire crew on THE ODYSSEY had absolutely no idea what they were doing
"For a month, you had hundreds of people, standing on their marks, ready to go, 7:00 a.m. every single day"
"You could hear a pin drop. Everybody was focused and usually by 7:05 we were filming"
"Nobody was an expert on this one. Because it was the first time a film had ever been shot entirely on IMAX, which meant that there were no veterans on set. Everybody was starting at square one"
"We really had to be there for each other in this, in a way that went even deeper than a usual film"
Samantha Morton on her response to Christopher Nolan sharing that #TheOdyssey's crew applauded after one of her takes:
"Emotional. I’ve had ups and downs in my career — you work for a bit and then you’re not working for a bit. You are criticized for your physicality. It’s a tricky game. Even meeting him was enough; everything else is very special, very personal. It validates the fact that I’m good at what I do and I care. I’m very grateful and I take it very seriously."

So, The Odyssey. Lol. It’s good, maybe Nolan’s best, and not even slightly “woke.” The right-wing hysteria is amazingly detached from reality.
It’s a relentlessly masculine film, visually similar to Troy (2004) at times, but starker and bleaker, less flamboyant and less feminist. Circe, Calypso, Charybdis etc. are classic Nolan female chaos dragons. Penelope’s weaving is not dwelled upon.
The costumes look good. The soundscape is relentless roaring and clanging that rings in your ears when you wander out of the theater feeling slightly overwhelmed by three hours of torchlit Mycenaean brutality.
The brief presence of several black actors and one transsexual feels utterly natural in a mythological setting of seafaring travelers, and the fits of neurosis over it are extremely embarrassing for champions of the Master Race, whose ideological fanaticism and general hostility to aesthetic values has now exceeded the wildest excesses of left-wing media critique.
Fair…but how is that different than a lot of public schools? Homeschooling as it currently exists needs reform. Public education as it exists needs reform (not the DeSantis method).
I was homeschooled. She’s 100% right.
My christian bookstore curriculum was a fucking joke. It was a miracle I was able to barely get my GED, but I was SO far behind when I started community college. I also had zero social skills when I started working—it was brutal.
Several of JD Vance's closest friends in the US postliberal scene were on the payroll of the Hungarian government under Viktor Orban until a couple months ago.
This is a well-documented fact.
To see him complain about "foreign influence" money on Rogan is certainly something.
Massie: "I don't think the problem is that our elections aren't secure because we control the House, Senate, White House, and to some degree we control the Supreme Court. So I ask my Republican colleagues, why are you complaining about election fraud? We won all the damn elections!"
