Life is but RNA's disappearing polymorphs. A billion-year cascade of endless, fleeting form most beautiful. No longer. Persistence is programmable. @pumpdotscience
Introducing PaperQA2, the first AI agent that conducts entire scientific literature reviews on its own.
PaperQA2 is also the first agent to beat PhD and Postdoc-level biology researchers on multiple literature research tasks, as measured both by accuracy on objective benchmarks and assessments by human experts. We are publishing a paper and open-sourcing the code.
This is the first example of AI agents exceeding human performance on a major portion of scientific research, and will be a game-changer for the way humans interact with the scientific literature.
Paper and code are below, and congratulations in particular to @m_skarlinski, @SamCox822, @jonmlaurent, James Braza, @MichaelaThinks, @mjhammerling, @493Raghava, @andrewwhite01, and others who pulled this off. 1/

@balajis network state is a powerful idea.
It attracts lots of attention and talent to the space of competitive governance pioneered by @patrissimo
Yet I encounter some confusion.
With this map, I want to make this nascent but fast-growing trend easier to understand.
There are different ways to look at this movement. I can't do all of them justice with this map.
I am excited about this because: this is an upgrade in legal & governance operating systems. This innovation can unleash a new wave of technological progress.

Not signing. Overall, it reads to me like "we shouldn't make anything whose effects we can't prophesy, so let's begin by giving the world's totalitarian governments and organised criminals a chance to catch up".
Incidentally, it implicitly confuses AI with AGI.
@InquilineKea@HaggSara@giulia_zavagno I'd guess that the diuretics in the study are loop diuretics (e.g furosemide) and thiazides, not K-sparing. Ca channel blockers can decrease the production of aldosterone, whose action is contrasted by spirolactone
I am driven by the power of technological breakthroughs to make positive change for humanity. My motivation is to help people and protect the future of the human species. So, I am interested in a wide array of contemporary challenges as outlined here: https://t.co/16rPpZNIt0
Milestone achieved—and surpassed! ✅
TAE Technologies’ state-of-the-art fusion research reactor Norman has achieved temperatures greater than 75 million° C while demonstrating unmatched real-time control of plasma. (1/6)

Super excited to announce that our work (with @ptoncompmemlab@hassonlab) is officially out in eLife: a neural network model of when to retrieve and encode episodic memories to predict upcoming events.

With multiple foundation models “talking to each other”, we can combine commonsense across domains, to do multimodal tasks like zero-shot video Q&A or image captioning, no finetuning needed.
