The way you pay may have changed, but in the past, when you thought it was “free”, the price was simply imbedde in the costs of the products being advertised. Business can only stay in business by making a profit. Competition is what keeps those profits reasonable

@evanhill @QuinHillyer Only if broadcast networks paid for the rights. Over-the-air broadcasts were never free. They are ultimately paid for by selling advertisements. Whomever pays for the rights gets to broadcast, stream, etc. and try to recoup their investment based on their business model.
