Well done to our Yr 6 pupil, Amelie, who has won the @DiscoveryEdUk’s Top Coder competition for the KS2 category! Amelie designed an underwater fishing game, showing “great imagination and coding skills.”
This is an incredible achievement, Amelie, and we are all so proud of you!
And the winners of our #NationalCodingWeek competition are...
KS1: Daarius at Alpha Preparatory School 🎉
KS2: Amelie at Starcross Primary School! 🎉
Congratulations! 🏆
Thank you to all the Top Coders who took part! Keep your eyes peeled for future competitions...🚀
This term, Year 1 are learning about Isambard Kingdom Brunel. We took them to see the Royal Albert bridge in Plymouth, which he designed. What a great view! We also met Mr Brunel himself!
What a fun week Sandpipers have had! We have been busy in the mud kitchen making potions and recognising letters in the tuff tray. We've practised our fine motor skills by tracing spooky pumpkins, and took part some important imaginative play outside pretending to be teachers!
This half term, we have focused on ‘Retro Futurism’ in Art and have been learning different painting techniques for our final piece. Here are some of our examples!
Our Year 6 and Year 4 children are hard at work this week doing their Bikeability training. Provided by @DevonCC, the Level 1 and Level 2 courses teach the children vital skills and knowledge to keep themselves safe on and around the roads.
Razorbills enjoyed honing their basketball skills on our recent PE Impact Day! Focussing on passing, dribbling and teamwork, the children played lots of different mini-games with Mr Baxter.
In Avocets this week, we have been creating information texts on a topic we researched and planned. We have used the skills that we have been developing through our English unit of work. Take a look at some of our amazing finished pieces!
Starcross Primary School invites you to our open day on 1st November. Join us for a tour of our wonderful school and to meet our new headteacher, Mrs Trail.
Please call our admin team on 01626 890454 to book a place.
We look forward to welcoming you soon!
Yesterday, Avocets had their final session with Mrs Lithgow from @Dawlish_College. Each child had a turn to create prints they designed. We are sure you can all agree they look absolutely fantastic!
Thank you Mrs Lithgow for your time, Avocets thoroughly enjoyed the sessions.
Our Year 5 & 6s had the opportunity to have a try at SCUBA diving in our school pool recently.
Some children took to it like a duck to water, and although others were a little nervous, they were able to use the equipment whether on the surface or submerged.
Well done, everyone!
Last week, we were invited to take part in the @BearsOutreach tour. We did a Mini Monsters session practising some NFL drills which was brilliant!
The children got a T-shirt to take home and were able to get an autograph from former NFL star Kaseem Sinceno.
Well done everyone!
For Arts Week, Razorbills had photography as their focus. We looked at two different types of perspective- actual perspective and false perspective.
We particularly enjoyed the false perspective and it was fun to get people in exactly the right position. Well done Razorbills!
Last week, Razorbills interviewed children across the whole school as part of our science topic 'Changes in Humans.' We also visited our pre-school and @Dawlish_College.
Thank you to all the students, parents and grandparents who chatted to us, your support is always appreciated!
This year, our whole school took part in #NationalSkyArtsWeek.
In Avocets, we focused on poetry where we listened to poems and created our own. We started thinking about the theme of identity and what makes us individual and unique. We then typed up our poems and performed them!
📢 We're hiring! 📢
