Really hard to imagine becoming a trillionaire and not wanting to immediately liquidate enough assets to give at least a few hundred billion to organizations making the world a better place.
Things you could do in the United State for a trillion dollars (instead of have it accumulate to one person):
1. End homelessness
2. End poverty
3. Healthcare for every child
4. Universal free college
5. Universal clean, cheap energy
6. Cure cancer
Every time Elon Musk claims to be a self-made trillionaire, remember this: He would be worth $0 without at least $38 billion in corporate welfare from U.S taxpayers & a workforce he can exploit.
Yes. Elon loves corporate socialism for himself, rugged individualism for the rest.
There is something terribly wrong about an economy that produces its first trillionaire, but cannot provide health care for its people.
Or one in which the richest handful of families have the combined wealth of almost forty percent of the rest of the country.
This is the cost of a corrupt system, where wealth perpetuates itself, and poverty, at the same time.
This the basic difference.
Republicans believe that that if you let the wealthy spend capital it will make Americans prosperous.
Democrats believe that the federal government investing in the healthcare & education of our people will make America prosperous & productive.
Americans are struggling to pay for groceries and gas while Elon Musk becomes a TRILLIONAIRE.
When the federal government is for sale, the rich get richer and everyone else gets shafted.
The system is rigged.
This isn’t a success story.
This is the story of a system designed to allow the obscenely wealthy and powerful exploit taxpayers and the working class to transfer wealth to themselves, while the majority of Americans struggle to afford basic necessities.
Just off the top of my head it makes it more likely that cancer will kill me or a loved one because his wealth led directly to cancer research being cut
Elon led the mass defunding of basically every US scientific institution and frequently spouts anti-science and anti-education nonsense
Wonder if that has anything to do with it
FACT: Elon Musk could've ended
world hunger for $6 billion but he
bought Twitter for $44 billion instead.
Elon didn't stop there, he killed
USAID that will lead to more than
14 million avoidable deaths by 2030,
including over 4.5 million children under the age of five.
Taxpayers paid for over $38 billion in subsidies and government contracts for Space X, and Elon Musk gets to be a trillionaire off of our tax dollars.
