Ashok Lavasa,
a former Election Commissioner, says - SIR process is wrong at the level of the concept itself.
His words : you are adopting a process where the burden of proving eligibility is put on the voter. He says it turns the entire system upside down.

This is not some opposition leader shouting on TV. This man sat in the same commission that is now running SIR.

Think about what it means.
Till yesterday, the state had to prove why your name should be removed.
Now YOU have to prove you deserve to vote.
Missing paper, wrong spelling, one lost form, and your name can be gone.

And CEC Gyanesh Kumar's ECI is doing this while the BJP government watches silently.
Every time we ask for answers, we get a press note. Every time a voter complains, we get a deadline.
