I had quite literally spent the better part of my day off arguing with fellow authors on Royal Road about this. It was a hit dogs hollar moment when I had said I passed over novels with AI covers bc it tells me you're lazy and don't believe in you're own work

The thread had gotten locked but they were 30 kinds of mad at me and others saying that we skip AI covers. Frothing mad. People were calling us purists and nearly cry typing they couldn't keep it together.

And their excuse every time was the same. "I can't afford it"
