Beware the Ides of June!

Day hikers on Bright Angel Trail should descend no farther than 1 1/2 miles from the upper trailhead.

Between the hours of 10 AM and 4 PM, hikers should be out of the canyon or at Havasupai Gardens or Bright Angel campgrounds, physical activity is discouraged.

All hikers should have adequate gear, including a wide-brimmed hat, sunscreen, salty snacks, sufficient water, and electrolyte mix.

Doubling your calorie intake helps maintain your energy.

KILAUEA JUST UNLEASHED A VOLCANIC TORNADO 🌋🌪️

Just minutes ago, an extraordinary vortex formed directly above a powerful lava fountain erupting from the summit of Kīlauea Volcano in Hawaii.

As molten lava blasted skyward, a rapidly spinning column of ash, gas, and volcanic debris suddenly developed within the eruption, creating a scene that looked almost impossible to believe.

The towering vortex appeared to twist and dance above the vent while glowing lava continued to surge from below, producing one of the most dramatic volcanic moments captured so far during this eruption.

Events like this are rarely witnessed and even more rarely caught on video.

Just dropped a fresh time-lapse of the early monsoon pushing into the Davis Mountains this evening.

Not the wildest colors, but man… the temperature drops fast, the air turns crisp and refreshing, and that creosote smell hits perfect.

You can almost taste the desert waking up as the rain sweeps across the high country.

Out here in the Big Bend Dark Sky Reserve, these monsoon evenings are everything and we have been treated to an early monsoon this year!

The storms roll through, scrub the sky clean, and leave behind that electric stillness — perfect conditions for the Milky Way to absolutely dominate once the clouds part.

Nothing beats that post-rain desert quiet.
