The Good Lord has blessed me with the opportunity to celebrate my 66th birthday today, on June 19th. I was born in Jeffersonville, Indiana, on Sunday, June 19, 1960. 🎂🎉🎈🥳
Indiana State Police troopers have been credited with saving the life of a driver who was retrieved from a burning vehicle in Fulton County. Learn more here: https://t.co/vYboeiL3ro
This week these two officers did a traffic stop, during the stop of violating a red light, the driver expressed she was in a hurry to get the children in the car to school.
When the officers asked her, what school do they attend.
She could not give a good answer.
They escorted her from the car and questioned the child, simply to the eldest child, age 10, "do u know this woman?"
The 10 year old shook his head, No! at that point the driver was arrested.
It was later determined she had kidnapped the children on their way to school.
Four children ages 10 to 6 were forced into the vehicle.
These 2 officers exercised excellent police investigate skills, in doing so they were able to take a kidnapper of the streets, and safeguard the 4 children from any hurt, harm and danger.
Outstanding work to Officers Flannel and Parrish, two of the hard workers in the Eighth Precinct.

I know some people cannot stand the success of the Indianapolis TenPoint Coalition in helping to curb urban youth violence. Today is day 164 in 2026, and there have been no youth non-fatal shootings, stabbings, or murders of young men of color aged 12-24 in any of the Indy TenPoint Coalition 12 hotspot patrol areas in partnership with IMPD and the community. #ResultsMatter #WorkingTogetherWorks #IndianapolisTenPointCoalition
Troopers from the Bloomington District honored one of their fallen today with a Memorial Walk on the Trooper Robert C. Gillespie Memorial Mile, located on SR37 between Bedford and Mitchell. Trooper Gillespie died in the line of duty on June 8, 1962, in a fatal vehicle crash.
Keep Deputy Jon Samuelson, his wife, and the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office in your thoughts.
Deputy Samuelson was critically injured in the line of duty on May 22. Donations will directly support him and his family during this difficult time.

The Indy 500 was an experience of a lifetime.
More than 350,000 people attended. I had to walk for over an hour each way, arriving at 8.30am to pick up credentials.
The opening ceremony was spectacular, and being on the starters’ grid, actually on the track for it, was incredible. Too much to share here, but I’ll share a video of Jordin Sparks singing the national anthem to give a flavour.
The race itself was long (200 laps, 500 miles), with interruptions and restarts, but to my surprise it was genuinely thrilling: constant overtaking, changes in the lead, and it ended with the closest finish in the event’s history. Far less predictable than Formula 1.
But what struck me most was how diverse, friendly and welcoming the enormous crowd was throughout.
Thanks to Alex Palou, CGR, Roger, Jim, Jonathan and Kavan for all making it possible.
