We couldn't be more proud of Xian Mallory, a @FloridaState assistant professor in @FSUComputerSci who took home the $100,000 grand prize from @ReliaQuest! 🏆

During #FSUDiscoveryDays' “The Quest for What’s Next!” competition on Monday, Mallory pitched Sage, a startup designed to protect personal data, to a panel of judges.

Two other teams, both from @FSUartssciences, took home $50,000 each! Olmo Zavala Romero, an assistant professor in @FSUSciComp, earned additional funding for his startup Ariadne, while Xin Zhang, a professor in @StatisticsFSU, benefited his ambitions after his presentation, “Protecting the Rare Label: Error-Controlled Classification for Data Sensitivity.”

“Representing @FloridaState in the first Cech Fellows class to me is both an honor and a responsibility because now I am representing FSU on the global neuroscience research stage.”

Congratulations to Sebastian Ruiz, a senior in @StatisticsFSU who was selected for the inaugural cohort of @hhmi_science's competitive Cech Fellows Program!

While at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute's Janelia Research Campus — located just 30 miles outside of Washington, D.C. — Ruiz will investigate how AI can improve our understanding of neural networks.

Ruiz is also one of four FSU students selected this year for the Barry Goldwater Scholarship, a national honor recognizing outstanding students pursuing research careers in the sciences, engineering and mathematics.
