LeBron James just earned a new nickname. LeBond. Today reports came out that back in 2018 LeBron Borrowed nearly $300 million though a company he controls. The internet got this wrong right away. It’s nothing to do with debt. It’s a very LeSavy financial move by an athlete. Let’s explain how smart this really was by LeBron.

Here’s how smart this was. LeBron has a lifetime deal with Nike that pays him for decades. But instead of just sitting and waiting to collect that money over the 30 years he just borrowed against the contract. He’s taking $300 million in cash up front through bonds that pay the lenders back until 2049. Guggenheim arranged (we’ll visit that in a moment) and two life insurers bought it because his Nike contract is basically the safest bet a lender will see. So these institutions have no issues handing him a third of a billion against income he hasn’t seen yet.

But what makes this smart? LeBron had raised $300 million by selling pieces of his businesses, he'd have paid a massive capital gains tax and given up ownership of assets that keep climbing in value. A loan skips both. He got the cash immediately, owed no tax on it because loans aren't income, kept every share of everything he owns, and paid the interest with Nike money that was already coming. This is the same maneuver billionaires use when they borrow against their stock instead of selling it, the strategy the ultra-wealthy call "buy, borrow, die." Most athletes don’t get quite to this level. LeBron’s team made a great call here and taught him this at 33.

But for this to actually be pulled off he had to do something no player that I have heard of has done before. His future earnings were packaged into a bond, rated by a credit agency and sold to investors the same way a company raises money. LeBron James the PERSON is the asset that Wall Street could underwrite and insurers could hold in a portfolio. It wasn’t good accounting, it was a person operating as a company. As Jay-Z once said “I’m not a business man, I’m a BUSINESS man.”

This is a place LeBron doesn’t get enough credit for. People know the hoops, the media, the assets in sports teams like Liverpool. But behind it all he has a machine of generating wealth with the people behind him helping him steer the wheel. His NBA contracts are great and all, but every agent signs his players to good deals. The infrastructure LeBron’s team built is savvy. And has to be celebrated.

Now one thing we do have to keep in mind is who arranged the deal which we brought up earlier. And well that’s Guggenheim, they arranged the loan, led by Mark Walter, who later bought the Lakers and is now under a federal investigation into parts of his business. Bloomberg said directly there's no indication the loans to James have anything to do with those inquiries. It's the same small world of sports money overlapping again, nothing more. The real story is that the best player of his era has also been one of the shrewdest businessmen in the game the entire time, and we knew it, but we just didn’t know how sophisticated his money team was.

San Francisco 49ers principal owner and CEO Jed York was arrested Sunday in East Palestine, Ohio, during an operation involving the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force.

York was reportedly initially charged with engaging in prostitution and possessing criminal tools.

The prostitution charge was later reduced to disorderly conduct, and York reportedly pleaded no contest to the remaining charges, was found guilty, received a short jail sentence, and was ordered to pay roughly $1,150+ in fines and fees.

This is the billionaire CEO and principal owner of one of the most famous franchises in the NFL.

And somehow this story is barely making a ripple nationally.

The NFL world is about to have some serious questions.

An ICE agent scanned the wrong license plate, chased the wrong man, and ended up shooting Julio Sosa-Celis through his own front door. DHS’s first story: Sosa-Celis attacked agents with a broom and snow shovel. City surveillance video proved that was false — the whole struggle lasted about 12 seconds. DHS admitted its agents gave “untruthful” sworn testimony. Charges against Sosa-Celis were dropped with prejudice.

The agent, Christian Castro, is now charged with 4 counts of assault + falsely reporting a crime. He fled to Texas.

Greg Abbott is refusing to extradite him. Minnesota’s AG just sued Abbott to force it.

A Republican governor is actively shielding a federal agent from facing trial for shooting an innocent man and lying about it under oath.

🚨 MAJOR LAWSUIT: Amy Huffman, the former CEO of DRNX Water, has filed an 87 page federal lawsuit against Roc Nation, DRNX Water and others, alleging sexual harassment, discrimination, retaliation, defamation and interference with her employment.

Huffman alleges she was recruited by Roc Nation to serve as CEO and that Roc Nation exercised significant control over DRNX Water, including her compensation, financing and major business decisions. She also identifies Desiree Perez as the Roc Nation executive who signed the DRNX agreement on the company’s behalf.

Interestingly, Huffman alleges that after she was hired, during a spring 2025 meeting with Roc Nation CEO Desiree Perez, Perez told her that Jermaine Jackson “needed to be managed.”

According to Huffman, the dispute began after she refused to defer to Jackson, whom she says did not have authority to fire her but nevertheless began interfering with her role as CEO. She alleges Jackson escalated the conflict into a campaign of sexualized harassment, false accusations and attempts to damage her professional reputation.

Huffman further alleges that Jackson contacted her husband in January 2026 and made a series of accusations about her alleged sexual conduct, professional relationships, financial management and competence. She says Jackson also made similar allegations to others and claimed to have video evidence supporting them.

Huffman says she reported Jackson’s conduct to Roc Nation executives and requested intervention. Instead, she alleges Roc Nation failed to properly investigate, informed Jackson about her complaints and allowed the retaliation to continue.

She alleges that after making her complaints, she was gradually stripped of her authority, excluded from meetings and business communications, had her benefits terminated and ultimately stopped receiving her Roc Nation funded salary. She says she was never formally fired or resigned.

The complaint also references recorded conversations that Huffman says captured Jackson repeating allegations about her, discussing supposed evidence and making statements concerning her employment.

Huffman is bringing multiple claims, including Title VII and New York discrimination and retaliation claims, defamation, intentional interference with contractual relations and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

She is seeking damages for lost wages and benefits, damage to her professional reputation and career, emotional distress and other losses, as well as punitive damages, attorney fees and injunctive relief.

Huffman is demanding a jury trial.
