I do have a nagging algos question however. I have been at this number numerous times already, never have I crossed the exactly 29.9k line in the sand. Not even for a split second. I’ve hit it on a few different platforms in the past & I’ve hit it on X a few times in a row now. Then it predictably slowly declines even when I up my content/engagement output. It’s a like a doorway that I am not permitted to walk through. I peer through the window looking at the land of 30k+ & wonder what it must take to achieve such a seemingly impossible feat…ah well, tis the will of the gods it seems. I accept my fate with gratitude, for alas, I am in great company.

Individualism is not repulsive. Collectivism is the real poison. The claim that “Individualism is repulsive” is completely missing the true culprit and demonstrates a lack of knowledge of the western tradition behind true individualism. He frames this as descending into the “lower good,” producing fragmented, broken, and ultimately repulsive results. His critique has a kernel of truth when aimed at degenerate or caricatured forms of modern “individualism” (not authentic individualism at all) which is often better labeled as subjectivism, relativism, performative non-conformity, or status-seeking within new avant-garde collectives. Anyone performing empty signaling to the collective is most certainly NOT an individualist at heart.

His argument here does not withstand scrutiny against true individualism as rigorously defended by Ayn Rand, Arno Gruen, the American Founders (and their intellectual sources like John Locke), John Stuart Mill, and other champions of rational autonomy and individual rights. These thinkers show that genuine individualism is not the source of repulsion, atomization, or ugliness. It is the foundation of human flourishing, moral responsibility, voluntary community, and genuine creation.

Beauty, healthy culture, and moral order arise most robustly from free individuals exercising independent judgment, not from their suppression in the name of a collective “higher good.” The Western tradition at its strongest (Enlightenment synthesis of reason, rights, and ordered liberty) demonstrates this. Periods emphasizing individual initiative and rights consistently outperformed those enforcing conformity or dissolution into the collective.

The path beyond cultural fragmentation and ugliness is not the rejection of individualism, but rather its clear-eyed defense and proper application: individuals free to think, create, and associate according to their own rational judgment and conscience, voluntarily participating in or reforming traditions as living, sovereign beings rather than cogs or rebels without standards. This is not repulsive. It is the precondition for everything admirable in human civilization.
