@Alan__Shatter Utter nonsense, Alan. I can’t find similar statements from other European leaders on this. Why was Ireland uniquely obliged to tweet? If there’s a comparable European precedent, point to it. Otherwise, this is just another cheap attempt to manufacture a grievance against Ireland.
@mooreholmes24 Christ, here I was thinking they were free to just turn around and walk home whenever they wanted. Turns out they're being held captive. Let them home, lads 🍊 #Drumcree#GarvaghyRoad
@RachelMoiselle@ColinGleesonIT As for "humility" and "endless grandstanding", that's your view, and you're entitled to it, as we all are. Yes, being safe and prosperous is a luxury. But it should never stop our overnment or our people from holding the FAI, or anyone else, for that matter, to account (3/3)
@RachelMoiselle@ColinGleesonIT Then there's your McCarthy comparison. McCarthy went after people's loyalty. The TD in your clip asked where the leadership was, which is a fair question about how the FAI handled a decision. Even its own CEO told the committee the FAI would own it. (2/3)
@RachelMoiselle@ColinGleesonIT The hearing may seem banal by comparison, but most governance is. The FAI is state funded with a less than stellar record, so its handling of the squad deserves legitimate scrutiny. Israel's security and our defence budget don't change that. Linking all three is a non sequitur.
@RachelMoiselle@ColinGleesonIT A juxtaposition only works when the two things are genuinely connected. The committee's agenda covered safeguarding, governance and funding, with the Israel match one item among several. None of it relates to events thousands of miles away. So what was the comparison really for?
@Jayne70302874@RachelMoiselle I doubt anyone would deny the severity of the incident on that flight, but I still fail to see how it relates to an Oireachtas committee questioning a State-funded body. If the point isn't that the hearing should have been postponed, where exactly is the irony?
@CatharineHoey@UEFA Stripped of hosting a tournament for daring to bow their heads? Christ! Had I not already known you were such a hateful bigot, I might have mistaken this for a parody account.
@YosephHaddad Judging by that scoreline, Israel might be wishing we'd boycotted too. If they've any sense, they'll boycott the return leg themselves. #ISRIRL@ISRAELFA
@CatharineHoey Come off it. You almost make it sound as though this video somehow swayed you in favour of Israel, when in reality, you'd gleefully support anyone over Ireland.
@clashreport Danny Danon, wandering the General Assembly with a Starlink in hand, telling Iran's envoy he wants their government gone. The same fella who had children's peace drawings pulled from the UN told an official to be quiet at an event on sexual violence. An insufferable little man.
