@northwoods1980 Agree! I think the AP pelvis and some kind of lateral are reproducible enough in a primary care clinic. An AP hip radiograph is essentially useless to me and I get people referred to me with those frequently. In my clinic I always get a standing AP pelvis and the FP and Dunn
https://t.co/h3HNYKAVwu Steward Health Care files for Chapter 11. They claim that it is due to low Government health reimbursements, high labor costs and challenges from a post Covid world. The real reason is that they took a series of safety net hospitals that were already struggling and gave them the full private equity treatment. First the system was loaded with debt to finance the purchase, then assets were stripped by selling the real estate and then leasing it back. When you sell the real estate you no longer have an asset, but only have debt per your lease.
Steward then paid large dividends to investors and failed to pay bills at the hospitals. This led to reduced access for patients. The CEO is living large and purchased a private jet and two boats, one a yacht and the other a sport fishing boat that costs $ 5 Million to design.
Enough is enough, it is time to ban Private Equity form purchasing, owning or operating health care entities. It is insane that physicians can't own hospitals but PE can. This bankruptcy will hurt many vulnerable patients and we need to make sure this is the last time that PE is allowed to harm patient access.
Remember that the person who trained into their 30's to learn to do the surgery, does most of the work, and takes on most of the risk is the recipient of 6% of the overall payment.
Where does the rest go you ask? It's hard to come up with 20K. It really is. This is criminal.
Kudos to the players? To the guys who went to war winning the Super Bowl. The owner stands up there and receives the Lombardi Trophy from Goodell and says “Kudos to the players.” Get that guy off the stage.
@traumaticum I love this. I learn so much from my mistakes and am fortunate to have close friends that share their own mistakes. The value of learning what not to do is incredible and unfortunately gets swept under the rug too often!
Most of the people doing important work are people you’ve never heard of—they want it that way. Most happy people don’t need you to know how happy they are—they aren’t thinking about you at all.
Putting a 10cm needle through a rib to biopsy a lung mass next to the aorta, takes about 30-60min and pays us ~$90. Tell me again how physicians are overpaid?
I paid a locksmith $155 to change my front door lock. It took 5min.
