Just so everyone is aware:

Christian Gonzalez fully guaranteed is $53,928,482
Devon Witherspoon fully guaranteed is $59,005,702

The rest of the guaranteed money in both deals, totaling over $100M in each case, is reportedly related to injury guarantees.

Both players, before signing, were already working off of fully guaranteed fifth-year options in 2027 along with fully guaranteed salaries in 2026.

For example, Gonzalez was already scheduled to earn a fully guaranteed amount of $20,928,482 through 2027 as part of a 2026 base salary and a roster bonus and another $18,119,000 in 2027 as part of fifth-year option being exercised before signing his new deal. With the $33 million signing bonus he was given, he is now set to earn a fully guaranteed amount of $53,928,482 through 2027. He was essentially fully guaranteed another $33 million to sign his deal as he already had $20,928,482 fully guaranteed via his rookie contract and fifth-year option being picked up.

Make sure you understand the differences between the Witherspoon and Gonzalez situations as former first rounders if you are going to try to compare to JPJ's situation. Not sure how much clearer I can make all this. #Steelers #NFL
