Congratulations to Professor Tu’uhevaha Kaitu’u-Lino on her reappointment as a Dame Kate Campbell Fellow through the University of Melbourne for the second time!
Tu’uhe is an internationally renowned leader in biomarker discovery for major pregnancy complications. Her exceptional research contributions have led to sustained funding from the NHMRC and ARC, along with an impressive publication record.
The Dame Kate Campbell Fellowship (DKCF) honors outstanding researchers who demonstrate excellence in research impact, leadership, global recognition, and uphold the UoM MDHS faculty values.
Congratulations Tu’uhe, we are so proud of you and can’t wait to see what is next for you! 👏
Happy International Women’s Day! 💜
Today, we celebrate and recognise the incredible women who are the heart of Mercy Perinatal. From doctors, researchers, and midwives to administrators, genetic counsellors, sonographers, and PhD students - each of them play a vital role in our mission to bring more babies and mums home safely.
The faces you see here are just some of the amazing women whose dedication and expertise keep us going. We are grateful for all that you do—today and every day.
Thank you! 💜

Congratulations to Prof Sue Walker and Dr Lucy Bartho, who have received a prestigious NHMRC 2025 Ideas Grant.
Prof Walker (CIA), Dr Bartho (CIB) and Dr Shihui Wen (CIC) were awarded the grant for their project, "Novel Methods to Identify Women at Risk of Preeclampsia Late in Pregnancy”. This research aims to develop a predictive blood test for preeclampsia, improving outcomes for both mothers and babies. The $1 million grant will help accelerate the development of this test, with a focus on making it widely accessible and ensuring it meets the needs of pregnant women and their families.
This work brings us another step closer to Mercy Perinatal’s mission of ensuring more mums and babies make it home safely, not just here, but across the world.
Congratulations Sue and Lucy! 👏
Thrilled to publish my 2nd PhD paper! This one explores how stem cell markers LGR5/LGR4 and their signalling partners are dysregulated in preeclampsia. Huge thanks to all authors for invaluable contributions! https://t.co/MaDOXmNaJK #Preeclampsia#Placenta#LGR5#LGR4#StemCells
