With the @NIH and @US_FDA actively supporting human New Approach Methodologies (NAMs), this work underscores how organoid models can improve toxicity screening AND accelerate drug discovery.
One standout finding: lead exposure triggers a distinct neuroinflammatory response. Our platform revealed pathway-level disruptions and microglia-specific signatures of toxicity. 🧠⚠️
Our study shows that microglia are key mediators of toxicant-induced responses in the brain. Using transcriptomics, cytokines, and biomarkers, we saw cell-specific and time-dependent effects from known developmental neurotoxins.
