@tanvir_h My face when reading this as I went from "haha, that's such a funny analysis to do!" to "oh my goodness, the results of that analysis are actually appalling..."

Interested to see how the new HESA 2019/20 ethnicity data compares to data published in our @NatureGeosci paper?
Things are not improving. Poorer representation of all ethnic minority student groups in Geology/Earth Science postgraduate research (PGR) in 2019/20 than in 2018/19.

#SciComm 101. I remember putting so much effort into learning complex terminology as my science career got more and more specialised. It's so easy to forget some "simple" terms can also have complex meanings that are interpreted differently by people outside of your specialism!
When you talk about science, are you sure the words you are using don't mean something different to others? Here are five examples of scientific lingo to use with caution ❗️

Such a fab initiative for #WomenInSTEM! I took part in @SoapboxScienceOxf back in 2018 and it was such a great experience to build my #SciComm confidence. I hope the speakers for @SoapboxScienceMK 2021 have a fantastic time!
My feed has seemed so glum recently that I've set myself a challenge to try and cheer it/myself up by promoting a different #STEMAccess or #STEMInclusion initiative every week day this month. To remind myself that there are still a lot of people who are doing good in the world.
@reneewatson77 Haha, brill! But in all seriousness it's got to be @LGBTSTEMDay - I love discovering the amazing work of current and past scientists I haven't necessarily heard of before!
