Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Trial and Error, Dr. Sarahanne Field, challenges one of the most entrenched incentives in research: the pressure to publish only positive results.
In Season 3, Episode 4 of the Lab Coats & Life™ Podcast, she emphasizes how uncertainty makes researchers (and reviewers) uncomfortable, why “failing” to confirm a hypothesis often raises more valuable questions, and how the publishing landscape needs to evolve.
If you’ve ever had a well-designed study that didn’t behave the way you expected, listen in.

On Saturday, October 3, over 20 team members from STEMCELL Technologies volunteered at the @scienceworldca Girls and STEAM Summit to help inspire 300 girls to explore future careers in science. As a proud presenting partner, STEMCELL is deeply committed to fostering accessible STEM education and empowering the next generation of women leaders in science, technology, engineering, art, and math.
Throughout the day, our volunteers led hands-on workshops on laboratory techniques like pipetting and serial dilutions, while engaging visitors at interactive showcase booths. We are incredibly grateful to our volunteers and partners at Science World for helping us spark curiosity and build bright futures for tomorrow's innovators.
