Arresting political opponents is straight out of the authoritarian playbook.
@RepLaMonica is in court today for conducting LAWFUL oversight and doing HER JOB.
Trump continues to weaponize the Justice Department against his critics. We've got your back, LaMonica.
🇨🇺 Yesterday at the Capitol, we joined National Nurses United, Global Health Partners, and members of Congress to demand an end to the blockade on Cuba.
This blockade inflicts collective punishment by design. It disrupts healthcare, farming, sanitation, and so many other critical services for millions of people across the island.
This horror has gone on for too long. It's time to build a foreign policy of collective humanity. It's time to lift the blockade on Cuba.
“A year ago, a lot of experienced people told us this was impossible,” the Democratic socialist congressional candidate Melat Kiros told a cheering crowd at her Denver victory rally.

A luxury resort backed by Jared Kushner has prompted massive protests in Albania, now ongoing for over a month.

The American Ethiopian Public Affairs Committee (AEPAC) congratulates Melat Kiros on her impressive victory in the congressional primary, defeating a 15-term incumbent.
Melat ran a principled, disciplined, and focused campaign that earned the confidence and support of voters. Her achievement is historic and serves as an inspiration to Ethiopian Americans across the country.
As the first Ethiopian American with the opportunity to be elected to the United States Congress, Melat has set a remarkable example for future generations of public servants and community leaders. We are immensely proud of her accomplishment and wish her every success in the general election as she takes this final step toward making history.
Congratulations, Melat, on this extraordinary achievement, and best wishes for continued success in the months ahead.

When I look at the recent progressive victories in Colorado and elsewhere, and the successful organizing campaigns sprouting up across the country, I believe we may be on the brink of the political revolution we have been fighting for.
Haitham Arafat, a Gaza‑born Palestinian American, joined a civilian flotilla to deliver aid and challenge Israel’s blockade.
He says Israeli forces abducted them in international waters, beat them on a “prison ship,” and packed 80 men into a spiked cage in the desert.
Israel is annexing the West Bank, destroying Palestinian communities & violently detaining anyone who seeks to resist. This month Israeli forces detained & imprisoned Dr Mazen Rantisi, known as the “ doctor of the poor.” I raised in Parliament his case to demand his release.
Absolutely superb piece by @chakrabortty this morning:

Ben-Gvir belongs in The Hague, not the UN!
How many have died in Gaza, Lebanon and Israel for Netanyahu to keep Ben-Gvir happy?
Why is a convicted terror supporter speaking at the UN?

I regret the withdrawals of Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger from the International Criminal Court, all contexts where accountability for any violations while countering terrorism is vital to provide remedies to victims
