Gaza’s healthcare sector has been pushed back more than twenty years, after the health system suffered massive destruction that stripped it of much of its ability to provide even the most basic medical and diagnostic services.

Hospitals and laboratories are facing an unprecedented state of collapse due to the severe shortage of medical equipment and diagnostic devices. Tests whose results once took only an hour are now taking two or three days, while some test results are delayed for more than five days—at a time when patients may be fighting for their lives while waiting for a diagnosis.

Gaza is enduring a suffocating medical catastrophe. Patients now face a real danger every moment due to the breakdown of diagnostic capabilities and delays in treatment, while chances of survival continue to diminish day after day. Amid the lack of resources and the collapse of healthcare services, the lives of thousands of patients hang in the balance, in a harsh humanitarian reality that threatens lives and deepens suffering to unprecedented levels.
