KNEECAP STATEMENT:
Since our statements at Coachella — exposing the ongoing genocide against the Palestinian people — we have faced a coordinated smear campaign.
For over a year, we have used our shows to call out the British and Irish governments' complicity in war crimes.
The recent attacks against us, largely emanating from the US, are based on deliberate distortions and falsehoods. We are taking action against several of these malicious efforts.
Let us be absolutely clear.
The reason Kneecap is being targeted is simple — we are telling the truth, and our audience is growing.
Those attacking us want to silence criticism of a mass slaughter. They weaponize false accusations of antisemitism to distract, confuse, and provide cover for genocide.
We do not give a f*ck what religion anyone practices. We know there are massive numbers of Jewish people outraged by this genocide just as we are. What we care about is that governments of the countries we perform in are enabling some of the most horrific crimes of our lifetimes — and we will not stay silent.
No media spin will change this.
Our only concern is the Palestinian people — the 20,000 murdered children and counting.
The young people at our gigs see through the lies.
They stand on the side of humanity and justice.
And that gives us great hope.
Kneecap ❤️
This is an appalling way to treat someone @JJKavanaghBuses who has a free travel pass because they live with a disability.
Completely unacceptable to treat someone from our community in this way!
Will someone address this issue please.
@epilepsyireland@TFIupdates@Buseireann
Until we deal with systemic discrimination against PWD's, it really doesn't matter whether you cn avail of free travel because you are ultimately at the behest of drivers & conductors - and for people who cannot drive - it puts us in even more vulnerable & precarious positions.
This morning I was kicked off the 736 route @JJKavanaghBuses - as soon as the driver saw my Free Travel Card. Despite showing an e-ticket, he shouted at me in front passengers & demanded I get off, not even offering me the chance to pay & leaving me stranded. Thread 👇
Never have I been so mortified, or made to feel so ashamed for having a disability. I've been questioned & revieved derogatory comments before, but nothing like this. This year @epilepsyireland won their campaign for people with epilepsy to be included under Free Travel. But -
Huge turnout in Kilkenny last night for #RockAgainstRacism 🔥
A powerful celebration of unity and diversity. A HUGE thank you to everyone who came out, the musicians and bands that performed, and all who volunteered to make it a fantastic night- it won't be the last! 💪🏾
Immigration issues got totally disproportionate air & column time.
Just 6% of voters considered it most important issue.
It isn't & never was.
Dog whistles for sale.
Proud to be represented by one of our founding members Rohana Perera today:
"The growth of the far-right is a symptom, not a solution. They distract from the fact that gov policies that prioritise landlords, profits and deliberate wealth hoarding" ✊️🔥 @irishcongress
