Help Our Sweet Star Get Back on Her Feet

If you’ve met Star, you know she’s more than just a dog—she’s a gentle soul in a furry coat, our neighborhood’s little hero. Whenever someone’s having a tough day, Star knows right away. She leans into your legs, soaking up your love and giving it right back. She’s brought comfort, joy, and endless affection to our kids and everyone around us.

Now, our sweet girl needs us to be there for her, just like she’s been there for us.

What’s Happening

This past week, Star got really sick. Seeing her struggle to get up, feeling sluggish and in pain, broke our hearts.

We took her to the vet today, and they found pyometra—a serious, life-threatening infection in her uterus. It’s an emergency; without quick surgery, it can be fatal. The only way to save her is an emergency procedure to remove the infection before it spreads.

How the Funds Will Help

We’re asking our community to help us raise $4,011 for her care and surgery. Here’s the breakdown:
Emergency Exam & Tests: $251 (initial checkup and diagnostics)
Emergency Surgery: $3,560 (surgical team, anesthesia, monitoring, and hospital stay)
Post-Op Antibiotics: $100 (to clear the infection)
Post-Op Supplies: $100 (recovery items and home care)

For eight years, Star has been Stephanie’s constant protector, eyes, and dearest companion. With her gentle presence and loyal heart, Star is so much more than a dog—she is Stephanie's family, her primary source of comfort, and her beacon of hope through countless dark days. Whether leaning against a friend for comfort or staying glued to Stephanie’s side, Star has spent her entire life giving unconditional love and healing to everyone she meets.

But today, Star needs us.

Just days ago, Star fell gravely ill. She could barely stand, her vibrant energy completely faded, and deep pain clouded her normally warm eyes. Rushing her to the veterinarian, Stephanie received devastating news: Star has pyometra, a sudden, aggressive, and fatal uterine infection. Without immediate emergency surgery, this sweet, loyal soul will not survive.

Stephanie’s heart is breaking. She is currently unhoused, managing her own painful medical challenges, and now faces the crushing reality that she cannot afford the emergency surgery that will save her best friend’s life.

Through this urgent campaign, Stephanie is pleading for help to meet two critical needs:

Star’s Emergency Surgery & Follow-Up Care: To immediately remove the life-threatening infection and give her the chance to heal, recover, and keep spreading the love she has offered so freely.

A Safe, Stable Place to Heal Together: A temporary, secure environment where Stephanie can recover from her physical injury and Star can safely rest and recuperate after major surgery.

If you’ve ever met Star, you know she is more than just a dog—she is a loving companion and a source of comfort to everyone around her. With her gentle nature and caring personality, Star has a special way of bringing joy to people, especially when they’re having a difficult day.

Whether she’s leaning against your legs for affection or simply staying close by, Star has spent her life giving love, comfort, and happiness to our family, our children, and our community.

What Happened to Star

Over the past week, Star became seriously ill. She began struggling to get up, became unusually sluggish, and appeared to be in significant pain. Watching her struggle has been heartbreaking.

We took Star to the veterinarian, where she was diagnosed with pyometra, a serious and potentially life-threatening infection of the uterus. Without urgent treatment, the infection can spread and become fatal.

The veterinarian has recommended emergency surgery to remove the infected uterus and give Star the best chance of recovery. She needs this treatment as soon as possible.

How Your Support Will Help

We are raising $4,011 to cover Star’s emergency medical care and recovery.

Our estimated expenses include:

- Emergency Exam & Diagnostic Tests — $251
Initial examination, testing, and diagnosis.

- Emergency Surgery — $3,560
