@MartinHowie@kj_macleod I truly feel music in schools is very important for all students and learners. Sadly in my province (Nova Scotia), I have noticed the arts as a whole get cut from schools and music teachers having to accept huge school circuits to maintain full-time positions.
@_Jill_Peterson@kj_macleod I think there are benefits to both choices. A colleague this year at my school tried a combination of the two. She gave students multiple book choices but the book determined your group. This allowed for group discussion but some freedom of choice for each student.
@jennifersmallm3@theofficenbc@kj_macleod #9 HAVE FUN! My best lessons have been when both the students and myself genuinely enjoy our class time together. During science class, I would commonly tell a ridiculous story from my childhood that linked with the lesson. After, students would share too. This connected us.
@doane_katie@kj_macleod I have had similar experiences when taking my students outdoors. It benefits the students to get the fresh air and I even enjoy the change of scenery too. Thanks for sharing Katie!
Do you incorporate the outdoors into your lessons?
Outdoor classrooms require proper purpose and place for a specific group of students to create meaningful learning. @kj_macleod#SummerED611 https://t.co/LTZLIjyw0M
@shannonlipsk@kj_macleod My first thought of this app was that it could have a negative impact on those students who do not feel the need to speak. After reading the second half of the article, I see that this could be a helpful tool for educators looking to better engage larger groups of students.
@ToddMacDougall1@kj_macleod "Teachers can respond to gifted knowing and learning... if they have appropriate tools to identify it." At times, I find it challenging to find the best tools to engage and enrich gifted students. Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice? #SummerED611
@MartinHowie@kj_macleod@MartinHowie What an interesting article. Asking the question "am I the educator I needed as a student?" resonates with me. My styles would be "cheerleader", "advocate", and "empowerer". #SummerED611
Can 3D printing be both creative and meaningful? Showing students inspiring projects like @victoriahandprj has made a positive impact in my classroom. Experiential learning changing the world! https://t.co/A0oi3BW9ic #SummerED611@kj_macleod
@_Jill_Peterson@MartinHowie@kj_macleod Do we need to start teaching "grit" in schools? An interesting read about the impact "rescuing" some students has with regards to their secondary education success. https://t.co/G1fYbgCI9o

@mamawolfeto2@mamawolfeto2 Having access to great technologies in the classroom is wonderful but without the proper understanding of these tools they become overwhelming to a teacher. HyperDoc appears to have simplified some of the confusion for educators. @kj_macleod @SummerED611
@shannonlipsk It is refreshing reading about the positive impact parents can have on culturally responsive teaching with their child. Learning needs to happen both inside and outside of the classroom. A great read! @shannonlipsk@kj_macleod#SummerED611
A great example of experiential learning and how it can not only impact an individual but can have a global importance on culture and education. https://t.co/GeRAHlxSsO @EskasoniSchools@kj_macleod#SummerED611
Is experiential learning something you incorporate into your class curriculum?Ideas and inspiration can be challenging with diverse classroom needs and environments. These activities could be a great starting point! https://t.co/D6CRKiJxb4 @kj_macleod#SummerED611
