Education Week #SummerED611 @kj_macleod interesting read. I can see how music class could help students succeed in other subjects. Thoughts? https://t.co/3xhyGoWGkZ
@jonohodgson1@kj_macleod Hi Jonathan. Exactly what I’m researching now. Experimental research would say there is a huge benefit to small class sizes. Non-experimental research would say something like a great teacher would be more impactful than small class sizes.
Do Smaller Classes Improve Learning? | EdCan Network interesting read on small class sizes. What’s your opinion on small class sizes? #SummerED611 @kj_macleod https://t.co/wxNftb9sAY
Edwin | Transform Your Classroom #SummerED611 @kj_macleod my school piloted the new Nelson education app Edwin for the last two years. All curriculum located on one app. Student gets to many cool education tools. Worth a look for tech teachers. https://t.co/UzcPMLVbzf
@juleemassee@kj_macleod Interesting article. I didn’t know this was an issue. I know at my school we start teaching the children very young about plagiarism. I wonder if these students are unaware. Great read!
What Kind of Educator Are You? | ASCD Inservice #SummerED611 @kj_macleod fun read on the different kind of educators out there. I’m pretty sure I’m a coach. What are you? https://t.co/H1XMYMRByZ
@doane_katie@edutopia Great post Katie.I tell my teachers that the academic side of education is extremely important but to not forget about the social learning aspect. Building character in children is so important. I often remember teachers who built a relationship with me. #SummerED611@kj_macleod
@kendallchad@kj_macleod Good question Chad. I don’t know that the assessment differences are much different. A class of 15 would give a teacher to more time to plan for deeper learning. Less marking! I’m learning that from k-4 there are advantages but 5-8 research does not show much advantage.
I just went through an intense 4 day training course with Responsive Classroom which focuses on SEL. Is anyone familiar with SEL? Any of your schools using something like R.C? #SummerED611 @kj_macleod https://t.co/YgzBtFf4f6
@Stephan41560668@_Jill_Peterson@kj_macleod Thanks Stephanie! I totally relate to this. Hard work and perseverance can go a long way! I also had a student come to me a few years ago who struggled academically. All she needed was encouragement and she was determined to learn. Won’t work for all kids but can for some.
@CameronJenna @kj_macleod This is great. Thanks Jenna. I was at an educators convention a couple of years ago where the convention actually hired someone to draw what the key note speaker was talking about. It really did help me retain the key note speakers points. Great share!
@kendallchad@NancyMacLeod13@HuffPostEdu@kj_macleod Hi Chad. No I have not. I find getting permission from parents for social media accounts challenging. I have tried something called fakebook but that turned out to@be a disaster.
@_Jill_Peterson@kj_macleod Very true @_Jill_Peterson I agree that we need to raise resilient children. I think a growth mindset does that. Pushes students to not give up when they fail. Thanks for the post.
