Last week I hosted family for Thanksgiving.
My 12-year-old nephew asked for the WiFi password.
He wanted to play Roblox on his iPad.
I looked at the device.
Unmanaged. No antivirus. No encryption.
I’m an IT Professional. I don't run an open network.
So I didn’t give him the password.
Instead, I spent 45 minutes provisioning a Guest VLAN.
I set up a captive portal.
I throttled the bandwidth down to 56kbps.
Then I blocked all traffic on ports 80 and 443.
He came back crying. He said it wouldn't load.
My sister screamed at me to "just let him play."
I told her that Zero Trust architecture doesn't care about bloodlines.
We didn't have a "fun" Thanksgiving.
But we had a secure perimeter.
You’re welcome for the compliance.
@legrand_djipi Il y a eu de la sécheresse il y a quelques années. Beaucoup de vaches ont dû être abattues. Ça prend 3 ans pour recréer un cheptel qui peut produire autant qu'avant.

When I was a young detective, I was part of a team working to identify a man who had abducted and murdered a child. After we arrested him, two senior detectives interviewed him—and what he said has stayed with me ever since.
He looked them in the eye and said, “If she had screamed, I would’ve let her go. I told her not to scream or I’d kill her—but if she had, I would’ve run.”
He even said, “Make sure you tell parents that.”
As sick as it was, his words carried a brutal truth: if someone is trying to force you into a car—scream. Fight. Make noise. Don’t go quietly. Because where they’re trying to take you is never a better place.
I pass that information on as often as I can.
@Fidias0 It would be nice if it was open source and could be reused at any level of government (why not for cities as well?).
It would be nice also to see the contacts given and to which companies.

@ryancbriggs I was wondering the same thing. But maybe we are biased because we work in that field. I guess that when we were young not all the kids were fixing their parents computers.

Some are angry about the "anti-Christian depiction of the last supper" at the Olympic Opening ceremony. (@elonmusk and @realDonaldTrump among others)
A Dutch art historian explains it's not the last supper but a Dutch painting of the Olympic gods.
And I explain what I loved.

There is no question that AI will eventually reach and surpass human intelligence in all domains.
But it won't happen next year.
And it won't happen with the kind of Auto-Regressive LLMs currently in fashion (although they may constitute a component of it).
