There’s a real ignorance and rootlessness among a lot of Canadian cross border or dual passport people who become political activists and commentators, especially when they spend most of their time focused on the United States.
You see it with people like Gavin McInnes, Lauren Southern, the Petersons, Steven Crowder, and Sarah Stock, along with the huge number of big anonymous and pseudo anonymous accounts on X.
Their ignorance of Canada often goes beyond even 51 staters, Alberta separatists, libertarians, populists, and Canadians who are mostly fixated on the United States. Some of those them may have better and more reality based views, but they’re still deeply disconnected from Canada.
To the extent that they understand Canada at all, they understand it through an American lens. It’s no surprise that many of them were among the earliest and loudest supporters of American annexation.
Now that Canadian nationalism and its associated organizations have started gaining ground, a lot of them seem to be pivoting so they can claim a piece of the pie for their own content. They’re deeply untrustworthy and unreliable.
The pattern reminds me of Bishop John Strachan of Toronto’s attitude toward the opportunistic “Late Loyalists” who came north after the American Revolution and the War of 1812 to take advantage of the King’s land grants. They were mercenary border people with no real loyalty to either side, and they became a serious problem in Ontario.
With them came Methodism, republicanism, liberalism, and the desire to Americanize the province. After the Upper Canada Rebellion was crushed, and after open Americanism became socially unacceptable, they dressed those impulses up in the language of liberal British Whig tradition.
@ryangerritsen@keegangary The collapse had progressed enough she probably will win.
I miss the days of the https://t.co/9CNcHkTNUX pledging to repeal the law of gravity
@CattleNut@TimHortons First

@David90shaw Tactic worked in Canada with Carney replacing Trudeau.
They saw it work and just pulled a bait and switch.
Good luck, it only gets worse from here.
Hollywood : "We were surprised by both the ferocity of the backlash and its reach, when we’ve spent the last few decades, and especially the last 15 years, insulting and subverting men, fathers, Christians, western society, patriotism, masculinity, heroism, and all things good and beautiful.”
I bring home a trapped coyote and let it loose in the kitchen.
Hackles up. Teeth bared. Pissing on the floor.
My wife says, "Get it out."
I tell her that is a very unwelcoming and unchristian way to speak about a future house pet.
The children back into the hallway.
I tell them it's a rescue.
I tell them fences are fear.
I tell them cages are barbaric.
I tell them the old rules were cruel.
I tell them it will domesticate in time.
Then I grab my lunchbox and leave them to live with my principles.
When I get home, there is blood on the floor, and the experts who sold me on compassion are already explaining why nobody could have seen this coming.
Anyway, that's Western migration policy.
@KeyOfBart "The crackdown comes after community members and businesses called on officials to address open drug use and vandalism happening downtown."
Winnipeg police for the past decade.....
"Where did immigrants get the idea they could come here, refuse to learn the language, not integrate and demand special accommodations from the native population?"
Us. They got the idea from us. That's literally what Canada has been telling them since 2015.
This guy JD who raises chickens, sure has some serious takedown skills.
"Stop trying to turn the Son of God into your tribal bush deity and some simp mascot for a desert war cult. He’s the King of Kings. Have some respect."
We worship an ethnic Hebrew who preferred to go by an intentionally universal title, “Son of Man,” who decreed the destruction of the Jewish Temple (Matthew 24:2), personally ended kosher law (Mark 7:19), retired the Old Covenant and gave us a new one in His own blood (Hebrews 8:13, Luke 22:20), called the founders of modern Judaism ‘sons of the devil’ (John 8:44), said that anyone who denies Him rejects Moses (John 5:46-47), and their Synagogue worships the devil (Revelation 2:9, 3:9).
Then His hand-chosen Apostles taught that God no longer sees people as Jews or Gentiles (Galatians 3:28, Colossians 3:11), that believers in Jesus are children of Abraham (Galatians 3:7), that unbelieving Jews are not (Romans 9:6-8), and referred to the Church as the circumcised (Philippians 3:3), as His chosen nation (1 Peter 2:9), and as the ‘Israel of God’ (Galatians 6:16).
The Book was written by the Holy Ghost (2 Peter 1:21), with multiple books written by non-Jewish hands (Luke/Acts), for the benefit of all men (2 Timothy 3:16-17). And the BIG REVEAL of the whole Book is that Jesus came to save the goyim (Ephesians 3:6).
Stop trying to turn the Son of God into your tribal bush deity and some simp mascot for a desert war cult. He’s the King of Kings. Have some respect.
@KeyOfBart It all the bays
Vivarium movie -"Hoping to find the perfect place to live, a couple travel to a suburban neighbourhood in which all the houses look identical. But when they try to leave the labyrinth-like development, each road mysteriously takes them back to where they started."
So now that Starmer's making way for the more charismatic Burnham, I'd like to warn my British frens to be cautious that they don't get Carneyed.
Canada's Conservative Party was on track for a majority. This was entirely because everyone despised Trudeau. Literally the only thing the Liberal Party had to do to turn things around was switch out the party leader. There were effectively no other changes in senior personnel, and outside and cosmetic alterations, no real changes to policy. Because yes, boomers really are that stupid.
So anyhow, everyone has been assuming that Reform will essentially cruise to an easy victory in 2029.
Sound familiar?
