Attention @BCCoachStevens : please be advised that the team that’s about to win a championship with arguably the greatest run in NBA playoffs history is in our conference, division, and is one of our fiercest rivals.
Keep that in mind next month
@StoolGreenie Well it was more egregious in 24 because the Celtics were the best team in the league from the opening tip and were miles ahead of Dallas. Same can’t be said for the Knicks.
Kinda makes what they’re doing even more impressive tho
@ksenguptaa He always felt destined to me to be a career loser. I’ll never forget the night he had 60 and was benched in crunchtime because he wasn’t playing winning basketball.
I can’t believe he’s gone to this level at this stage. Gotta tip the cap
@jjohn2j3@sherman4949 The analysis is all quantitative, not qualitative. Russ’ triple double avg. goes a long way. You can likely build a better team with 5 ‘good stats, bad team’ guys, than with guys like 80s Isiah Thomas and 00s Duncan, who were all-time greats but have a cap on their counting stats
I can’t imagine that if the Bulls in 1996-96 traded Ron Harper for John Stockton, and then swapped Pippen, Rodman, and Longly for prime Tatum, AD, and KG that they’d manage just two more wins
@SportsChatterMJ@Mooseking777@MartyByrds1@StoolGreenie Luck is usually attributed to an uncommon or unexpected outcome. What you’re implying is that Tatum quarters 1-3 were the expected results and quarter 4 was unexpected, thus “lucky.” Not sure I’d agree with that
@SportsChatterMJ@Mooseking777@MartyByrds1@StoolGreenie This is the dumb shit that keeps stupid narratives alive. Of course it feels like Tatum doesn’t make clutch shots when you immediately dismiss his clutch shots as lucky.
What exactly made them lucky? What qualitative analysis are you using to determine that?
Let me know when Brunson has 46 in a road elimination game. Let me know when he drops 50 in a game 7. Let me know when he’s the best defender on his team AND leads in points, rebounds, assists while winning a title.
“JT disappears”
@MarkDondero What they did in game 1 of the ECF last year is more egregious than anything the Celtics have done in this era. Also from the 52 second mark thru the end of OT Brunson shot 33% and had 3 turnovers 🤷♂️
@MarkDondero Mark, the Knicks lost to that exact same 8-seed Heat in 6 games.
Last year in the ECF they had a 14 point lead with less than 3 minutes to play and a 9 point lead with 52 seconds left and LOST. They had a breeze to the Finals and blew it because they choked the final minute…
@KEnraud@StoolGreenie So he’s in the same neighborhood as Hall of Famers and MvPs who have earned a reputation for being good in the clutch. So this is saying they’re all bad in the clutch too.
Or if you disagree with that sentiment, maybe it’s just a shit way to look at things
The Knicks were in real trouble against Atlanta. And now, in my opinion, they have a very, VERY legit chance to finish the postseason winning 15 straight games. Never in a million years did I see this coming.
I hate this team, but at some point you gotta tip the cap
