When someone is systematically smeared by the political-media establishment simply for dissenting from official truths (i.e., lies), as Glenn Diesen is, you’re not living in a democracy. You’re living in a dictatorship.

Via @Glenn_Diesen
These days, barely a week goes by in Europe without a drone sighting, a fire or a power outage being blamed on Russia. We’re told that these incidents are all part of a relentless, and escalating, “hybrid war” that Moscow is waging against the continent.
But does the evidence support Western claims that Russia is engaged in a systematic hybrid war against Europe? As I argue in my first piece for @RStatecraft, not really.
Most claims of Russian involvement turned out to be establishment-amplified speculation that collapsed under basic scrutiny. In many cases, there is no evidence the incidents themselves actually even happened (drones supposedly swarming European airports, etc.).
So is this just a case of collective panic fuelled by click-addicted media? Or, given that the claims of a Russian “hybrid war” against Europe appear to rest on little more than propaganda, is there a concerted effort by the EU-NATO establishment to condition citizens to believe that Europe is under attack from Russia?
In Italy, the expression “strategy of tension” evokes a dark period, from the late 60s to the early 80s, in which intelligence services and secret paramilitary networks operating under NATO auspices inflated the terrorist threat to frighten the electorate, including by engaging in terrorist acts that in some cases were then blamed on the left. European leaders should be wary of reviving such a strategy.

Merz muss weg!
"La signora Kallas vuole umiliare la Russia ogni singolo giorno. I Paesi baltici vogliono umiliare la Russia ogni singolo giorno.
Jeffrey Sachs gela l'aula e rimprovera l'Europa citando Kennedy:
Non pose richieste all’Unione Sovietica.

🇵🇱🇷🇺 Schrödinger's Russia: the Applebaum-Sikorski edition
Anne Applebaum, the Atlantic writer who has built an entire career on fearmongering about Russia, and her husband, Polish Foreign Minister Radek Sikorski, are two of the most psychotic Russophobes in the Western establishment. Between them, they've spent over a decade insisting Moscow is the root of every European problem.
Today, reacting to a Wall Street Journal report on a possible summit between Putin, Trump and Xi, Applebaum wrote that Russia has GDP per capita lower than Poland and hasn't been able to take Donbass since 2014, yet expects to be treated as an equal to the US and China.
Strange, because the two of them have spent years telling Europe the exact opposite.
🔸️Applebaum on the "weak" Russia:
2014: "War in Europe is not a hysterical idea."
2022: Russia is "a mortal danger to Europe."
2025: Russians are being mentally prepared for war with Europe, and she has "no doubt" Putin wants to rebuild an empire that includes Germany.
🔸️Sikorski can't decide either:
2024: a Russian attack on the EU is "absolutely probable."
Also 2024: Russia will "hit the wall" within 12 to 24 months and run out of money for the war.
Also 2024: Russia's economy will "start to collapse" next year.
2025: Putin is bankrupting Russia, and runs "an economy the size of Texas."
2026: Europe must prepare for a war on the scale "our grandparents" lived through, and Russia could attack NATO "even this year."
❓️So which is it? A broke country that can't win in Donbass, or a military juggernaut about to roll into Berlin?
The answer depends on what they're selling that day. When it's time to justify more weapons and bigger defense budgets, Russia is about to invade Europe. When it's time to keep the war going, Russia is on the verge of collapse.
Two years after Sikorski said Russia would hit the wall, it's apparently strong enough to attack NATO this year.
And remember who's lecturing you about Russian aggression. Applebaum cheered on the 2003 invasion of Iraq, a war built on lies about weapons that never existed. Her husband, a sitting member of the European Parliament at the time, celebrated the sabotage of Nord Stream in 2022 by tweeting "Thank you, USA" under a photo of the gas bubbling up in the Baltic. The same people who applauded an illegal war and an attack on Europe's own energy infrastructure now want you to fear Russia.
Men, neida.
Dr. Ulrike Guérot (@ulrikeguerot) argues that Europe’s emancipation project was deliberately blocked. U.S. interference after 2004, the Maidan operation, and the refusal of a Eurasian orientation left the continent without strategic capacity. What remains is an oligarchic system that stabilizes itself through war, austerity, and the suppression of dissent, while pretending moral superiority it no longer possesses.
“So, the Americans basically went to Iraq and then divided Europe. The BRICS countries were founded in 2009. You see the moment of 2011 to 2014 as a moment when Germany wanted to drop Europe but go east, go BRICS, but then was cut off from doing so. I can tell you, out of the EU Commission, that in these years, 2012-13, you would say I’m doing a conference with the Chinese and Russians, and so the Commission would say no money for this. There was clear interference in doing so. And then came Maidan. In which the Americans interfered in a way that Maidan was the glue to keep Europe west. To basically keep it west and to make it align in this anti-Russian spin. So the geopolitics and the geoeconomics were to keep Germany and keep Europe away from going with China, going with the BRICS, going with Russia, building the pipeline.
I think Europe is in the worst condition today because, whatever you say about the US or China or Russia or Iran or India, at least they have somehow functioning states. So the only way we have is to pretend that we are the best. That’s still what we are doing. And because we are the best, all the others are evil. So the Chinese are evil, and our competitors now and Russia’s anyway evil and the US starts to be evil, and Iran is anyway evil. So we are the good, and the others are evil, which is a very, very non-intelligent position to take.
We are the liberal democracies; we are Atlanticists, a huge consensus, and this consensus is now really breaking up. It’s breaking up with respect to Israel; you know why. It’s breaking up because the US is now drawing the red line and basically dividing Europe, trying to divide Europe. It’s breaking up with respect to Russia; are the Russians really evil? It’s breaking up with respect to China because the Chinese are basically lifting two-thirds of their population out of poverty and have the best car industry now. You can’t basically say that the Chinese are not running a good societal model. And in that respect, Europe is totally lost, and it’s not only lost geo-strategically and socially and economically, but also in mindset. Because the EU doesn’t function. I showed you Thomas Fasi’s book. The structures are totally flawed. No democracy, no participation of citizens. The EU is totally incapable of doing the real things, meaning peace in Ukraine and the big things. We can’t even build trains from Copenhagen to Rome or from Paris to Budapest, so we can not lift the economic potential.
We need to accept that the system of the EU now is so flawed and there is so much resentment against the EU that, with this system, there’s just one chance to stabilize it, and that is violence and authoritarianism. And that is what is happening. What we are seeing — these oligarchic policies and this warmongering — basically means stabilizing a system that is now fueled by resentment and has no more consent among citizens. Essentially, most of the European countries now have an oligarchic structure, essentially in four industry pillars. One is armaments, the second is pharmaceuticals, the third is the digital complex, and the fourth is energy. And these are structures in which state money is spent for state goals like climate protection and energy. We need the mint bills or the corona vaccine; we do need to spend state money for the vaccine or armaments. Putin is Hitler, so we need to spend money on armaments or the whole digital complex, digital violations, so we need to spend money on the digital complex, and this is no more competition. This is basically state money flowing to big sections of industry and to organize this because, in a way, it’s protofascism. In the definition of Mussolini, if you have corporate structures where you have a merger and a fusion between the state and the economy, and the state fuels the economy without competition, then it’s no longer a market economy. So it’s basically protofascism in the definition of Mussolini.
Freedom is gone in Europe. Dissident voices are gone, which they are, because they are put on EU sanctions lists. And the problem is that if this should stabilize and I’m fearful that it will — because it’s not only state money from Italy, France, and so on and so forth, but it’s also EU money on top of it that stabilizes all these oligarchic structures — then there’s no escape. Every citizen in Europe needs to earn a salary, has a husband, has a wife to feed, or kids, or whatever, so if you’re a school teacher, you can’t sneak out; if you’re a professor, you can’t sneak out. So the control features are very sublimated and go to the churches, go to the trade unions and go to every sort of civil society part and if you’re not sort of behaving in terms of war with Putin, Corona, digital, whatever climate, because these discourses are now institutionalized also in schools. And so there is no escape for citizens in terms of freedom and freedom of speech, which is a huge problem in Europe now across the European Union.
And this is why there’s no quick fix. I’m not standing here to say there’s a quick fix for Europe. I guess Europe is lost at least for the next 20 years. That the only way is to blame Putin, escalation into nuclear war. Then there’s destruction, and then at least I am not guilty. I’m fearful about the future of Europe. I’m most fearful about this nihilism which is sort of sneaking into society. Thank you for listening.”
The EU’s technocratic project has collapsed into oligarchy and moral pretension. A viable Europe requires a republican reconstruction oriented toward Eurasian cooperation rather than permanent vassalage and war.
Jeffrey Sachs delivers a stark warning against the drive toward war with Russia and China. Europe’s political leadership is sacrificing peace, sovereignty, and economic development to preserve a collapsing geopolitical order. From Ukraine to Iran, the refusal to challenge military escalation threatens humanity with catastrophe. The alternative is diplomacy among sovereign nations, grounded in mutual security and economic cooperation.
“Stop trying to force Russia into a ‘humiliating defeat.’ Above all, avoid that because that is a death wish. You want some stupid American general saying, ‘We could take Kaliningrad, no problem.’ And then when Putin says, ‘We’ll use all means to defend it.’ Then having all these stupid pundits saying, ‘Oh, he’s just bluffing.’ I’m so sick of these pundits. Is the idea really humiliation?
So, what is this arming to go to war with Russia? They have 1,600 actively deployed nuclear weapons. Are you kidding? What are you thinking? Europe is not standing up for Ukraine. Europe is killing Ukraine. This is not about a ceasefire. This is about a European politician standing up and saying, ‘Mr. Putin, NATO will not enlarge to Ukraine or to Georgia. Now, let’s stop the war.’ Sit down and talk.
We are nearly at war with China. Why? Because China has grown up again. In fact, they have an unbelievable temerity to have a larger economy than the United States. How dare they threaten American hegemony? This is insane. How many wars do we need in this world?
And by the way, I didn’t hear Europe speak a murmur about America’s attack on Iran. That is a brazen, murderous violation of every single international standard we have. The day of the attack, the Security Council met that afternoon. And I was asked to testify. And I sat there in growing absolute shock. The Bahraini ambassador was the first to open the meeting and said, ‘We are meeting here today to condemn the unprovoked attack by Iran on Bahrain.’ Okay, I thought, ‘That’s a little weird. Unprovoked?’ But it went on the whole session this way. The French ambassador, the British ambassador, the Greek ambassador, nobody in Europe said the United States should not have started a war against Iran.
My view is there is no reason for a war with Russia. There is no reason for a war with China. There’s no reason for a genocide in Gaza. For God’s sake, honestly, I love Europe, but not this political leadership right now. I don’t understand it.”
Humanity cannot survive a geopolitical order built on imperial hegemony and permanent war. The alternative is dialogue among sovereign nations, mutual security, and cooperation for peace and economic development rather than nuclear catastrophe.
Ukraine could have been an independent, sovereign, free, and whole state had their leadership and the West implemented the Minsk agreement they signed. They could also have been free and unscarred by war had they negotiated mere neutrality w Russia in 2021.
The West and Zelensky could have limited the damage and retained freedom and independence had they not rejected the peace opportunity in Istanbul 2022.
But at every opportunity for diplomacy, the West and Zelensky have chosen war, to the destruction of the state of Ukraine and the demolition of its people, putting its entire future at risk.
History will condemn the Western elite/media, the Western leaders, and Zelensky himself for pursuing a path that could only lead to Ukraine’s destruction. It never needed to be this way, but we have made it so.

Das System hieß „Where‘s Daddy“.
Attacks last night on St. Petersburg. Has NATO crossed the line between proxy war,and direct war? Why is there no discussion about where that line lies, and no concern about attacking the world’s largest nuclear power? Will we chant “unprovoked” when Oreshniks land on our cities?
Manufacturing Consent for war against Russia involves a lot of propaganda, here Professor Michael Northcott provides a sobering reminder of where the threat really lies, in @PropagandaFocus, f.y.i. @ForPropaganda
🚨🚨 THE SECOND FRONT IS NOT IN DONBAS. IT IS IN EUROPE.
NO BOMBS ARE FALLING ON BERLIN, PARIS, OR ROME. BUT THE STRUCTURAL DAMAGE IS EXACTLY THE SAME.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Ukraine is being destroyed by drones and missiles.
Europe is being destroyed by invoices and sanctions.
The result is the same.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
▸ THE ILLUSION OF THE SPECTATOR: Europe believes it is watching a war from the safety of its borders. It is not. The war has already crossed the border. It just arrived as an energy bill, an industrial shutdown, and a collapsing political consensus.
▸ MELONI'S ADMISSION: 🔴 "Do all the protests you want, but keep them peaceful."
This is not a statement of strength. It is an admission of helplessness. When a Prime Minister’s only remaining tool is to beg citizens to protest politely, it means the mechanism is already out of control.
▸ THE POLITICAL GRAVEYARD: Look at the leaders managing this crisis. Macron is in his "garbage time," a lame duck fighting his own succession. Merz is a political corpse in Berlin, polling at 14% while the AfD rises. The leaders who are supposed to guide Europe through this winter are already politically dead.
▸ THE BUREAUCRATIC DELUSION: And what does Brussels do? It rolls out the 22nd sanctions package. 1,569 new listings. More names on a piece of paper. 🔴 "We will not revoke any sanctions."
You cannot sanction your way out of a structural economic collapse.
▸ THE UKRAINIAN PARALLEL: In Ukraine, 370,000 people are in the dark because substations were hit. In Europe, factories are going dark because they cannot afford the energy. The mechanism is different. The outcome is identical.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
THE POLITICAL LAYER
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
▸ The war in Ukraine has become the most efficient transfer of wealth and de-industrialization in modern European history.
▸ The EU is funding a war it cannot afford, while its unelected Commission ignores the democratic collapse of its member states.
▸ The tragedy is that Western Europe is suffering the exact same fate as Ukraine: its infrastructure is being hollowed out. But in Europe, the weapon isn't a Geran drone. It's the market.
▸ The citizens are starting to understand the math. The politicians are still pretending it's a temporary crisis.
⚖️ VERDICT:
Europe is not a spectator to this war; it is the second front. You don't need to bomb a country to destroy its industrial base and its social contract — you just need to make energy unaffordable and let the bureaucracy do the rest. The war has already reached Western Europe. It just arrived as an invoice, not a drone.
❓ If the bills are the new bombs, and the politicians are already dead — who is going to pay for the reconstruction?

"I argue that the United States is deliberately preparing to sacrifice Europe. When Ukrainian manpower is exhausted, European men and European territory are to become the next expendable resource in a proxy war against Russia.
For decades a networked elite has manipulated governments, manufactured consent for wars of aggression, and shielded itself from accountability through legal and institutional mechanisms designed for that purpose. That same elite now faces the collapse of its financial instruments, the failure of its traditional tools of control, and the rise of powers it can no longer dominate. It cannot afford to lose power, because loss of power would mean exposure for crimes that, under the standards established at Nuremberg, constitute the supreme international crime.
Europe’s own political class is not working for Europe’s interest. Its loyalty has been carefully cultivated to serve the American hegemon — more like a beaten wife than an equal partner. The continent is therefore being transformed from ally into resource: economically drained, politically captured, and militarily prepared as the theatre in which the costs of imperial decline will be paid.
The ultimate expression of this strategy is a managed escalation that keeps the American homeland as sanctuary while Europe absorbs both the conventional attrition and the nuclear risk."
