@SpeakerJohnson has shut off his phone number, folks! I just tried calling 202-225-4000 to ask him to fight for our Constitutional Republican values of democracy, civil rights, personal freedoms, and against the militarization, authoritarianism, and dictatorial fiats of Trump.
Two 19-year-old Mexican counselors, Silvana Garza Valdez and María Paula Zárate, saved nearly 20 young girls from the deadly Texas floods at Camp Mystic—and the U.S. media has barely said a word.
As floodwaters from the Guadalupe River surged into Camp Mystic before dawn, the two counselors sprang into action. They woke the youngest campers, helped them escape through cabin windows, and tied a clothesline across the rising current to guide them to safety.
Even after being swept away themselves, they kept shouting instructions—refusing to give up until every girl made it out alive.
Silvana and María Paula are heroes in every sense of the word.
So why aren’t they being celebrated?
Why isn’t the media honoring the bravery of two young Latinas who risked their lives to save others?
America should know their names.
Show them your gratitude.

“In the past FEMA would have swiftly staged these teams…But officials realized they needed Noem’s approval before sending additional assets. Noem didn’t authorize FEMA’s deployment of Search and Rescue teams until more than 72 hours after flooding began.”

"Mr. Speaker, wars are not caused by the build-up of weapons—
They are caused when an aggressor believes he can achieve his objectives at an acceptable price."
—Baroness Margaret Thatcher, 1985 address to a Joint Session of Congress
Some of President Trump’s NOAA appointees have troubling ties with lucrative government contracts, presenting the possibility of even more conflicts of interest in his administration.

Oriana Fallaci was one of the last great journalists to interview an Iranian despot, in her case Ayatollah Khomeini. Unlike Tucker, Fallaci actually showed some balls.
The year was 1979, the interview took place in the Iranian holy city of Qom (not via Zoom lol). Fallaci, forced to wear a chador, started off by calling Khomeini a "dictator" — to his face.
FALLACI: "Forgive me if I insist, Imam Khomeini. I meant that today, in Iran, you raise fear, and many people call you a dictator. The new dictator, the new boss. The new master. How do you comment on that? Does it sadden you, or don't you care?"
But that wasn't all. Fallaci challenged Khomeini on the chador, noting that, wearing one, women can't even do something as simple as swim. Khomeini thundered back furiously.
KHOMEINI: "Our customs are none of your business. If you do not like Islamic dress, you’re not obliged to wear it because Islamic dress is for good and proper young women."
Fallaci being Fallaci, she took the dictator at his word, despite the obvious risk to her safety – and her freedom.
FALLACI: “That’s very kind of you. And since you said so, I’m going to take off this stupid, medieval rag right now."
Fallaci ripped it off. Scandalized, Khomeini sprung up "like a young cat" and fled the room. Interview over. (He came back the next day for round 2!)
Now that, friends, is journalism.
Parks, hospital parking lots, outside churches. They’re grabbing people. This must not be who we are. Me, tonight on Substack, on how we can make them pay politically for this cruelty. Have a watch. And subscribe if you’re sufficiently inspired. Thanks.👇 https://t.co/NXVDu9ebOK
Every reporter needs to press Cruz on this. Enjoying his romp in Athens and not taking the quickest flight back to Texas is one thing. This is far, far worse.
Raskin on Epstein: Well, Donald Trump, his press secretary, and Pam Bondi have said that this is the most transparent, accessible administration in history. Live up to what you promised… release these materials to the public
No cable news host in America so fearlessly speaks the truth: Lawrence O'Donnell's fearlessness in documenting the corruption, degeneracy, and stupidity of the dumbest and most incompetent president in history is a ray of hope in the current US hellscape of authoritarian fascism.
Trump and Greg Abbott don’t like me standing up to them, so NOW they want to redistrict our district…
Yes, they want to CHANGE THE MAPS!
GAME ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!
