You: 🤦 I feel you... We'll see the patient again.
When I was a medical student and resident, I never even noticed which teachers were assistant, associate, or full professor. I noticed which teachers cared. I noticed clinical faculty who genuinely supported my learning and development.
Recently had the chance to be the *very first person* to teach a student how to write a note(!) Sharing a few of my teaching points on crafting the critically important ✨ONE-LINER✨ here for beginners! This is medicine focused & I apply it to both my inpt & outpt notes.🧵

🤔Why does it take weeks for the radiographic evidence of pneumonia to clear?
Patients often feel better DAYS after starting treatment.
And yet the chest x-ray takes WEEKS to return to normal.
Why the delay?
When I was a resident, I don’t think I ever missed a day for being sick.
It wasn’t that I never got sick - I mean, I did my residency in pediatrics - it’s just that I never missed work when I was.
(a rambling 🧵)
Phenomenal paper just published in Science persuasively demonstrating that EBV causes most if not all multiple sclerosis.
Phenomenal epidemiological design and technical achievement. 👏

again for the people in the back: don’t give DKA patients loads of normal saline (*if* you have a choice; some hospitals require saline w/ K to replete K). pH & chloride matter. we now have EBM to show that chemistry is real 🤣 more on this from 2014:https://t.co/WEpFDc6Pmw

To set an albumin target or not? Great discussion at EVMS Gut Club this evening on the ATTIRE Trial and albumin modulation of prostaglandin E2 in cirrhosis!
In this cohort study, an increased platelet count was associated with an increased risk of cancer for at least 2 years. The results suggest that individuals with unexplained thrombocytosis should be offered screening for several cancers. https://t.co/dOgGHxit6Y
So I wrote an update for the Frosthaven Kickstarter, which isn't novel in itself, but this one is more personal to me, and says some stuff I've building up to saying for a while, and you may find it interesting even if you're not part of the Kickstarter. https://t.co/FK2iLK5dkE
