@charlieo_conn This is a 90-95 point team if they get average or above goaltending, but they're still rebuilding.
So they'll have games like this, where they're competitive but not good enough.
When you hit both posts and it doesn't bounce in off the goalie, maybe it's not your night?
@charlieo_conn Only problem is they play in Hartford, so he'll get back late (unless he flies directly to Philly, still will be early morning). So might not play until Tuesday.
Speaking of LHV, Robertson, after two meh AHL seasons, has 6 ES points in 5 games and +4. Still only 22.
@charlieo_conn Andrae should be back Sunday it seems, given Couts is probable for then.
Reason not to waive Ginning is rash of injuries has Briere wary of losing any D-men this early in the season.
Risto, Bonk, Samson out, Gilbert/Grans didn't show enough. McDonald/Murchison not ready.
@charlieo_conn Zamula would be claimed given his body of work, I doubt Ginning would be.
Isn't there a new rule that Andrae will have to play one game for LHV before he can be recalled? That makes these waiver moves more complex than mere paper transactions.
@charlieo_conn A top team has to be balanced, Michkov and Zegras give you two elite "half court" forwards (and Martone), they also need fast forwards who can make defenses back up, Tippett, Jett, ???
Drysdale, Sanheim give you that on the back end, I see Danny adding one more.
@charlieo_conn Flyers got outplayed and won, though refs were allowing Preds to get away with murder.
Balances games where they controlled play and lost. Over a season, this tends evens out, why metrics are good predictors for large samples.
Losing Couts jumbled lines, but no more DeLo!
@charlieo_conn Good chance to check if Kolosov's good start is a SSS fluke or if he's taken a step up.
They'd like to make the POs, but Briere has been honest that they're still rebuilding, just hopefully have exited the "fire sale" phase.
@charlieo_conn Given DeLo seems to be playing ahead of Grebenkin, might be a short-term move.
But also suggests Tocchet isn't happy with Grebenkin's play - you could always expose Ginning who is unlikely to be claimed.
@charlieo_conn Juulsen is the best fit of a bad group, no one else has shown they can play RHD.
Too bad Grans played himself out of consideration.
This should teach people not to underestimate Risto's value:
"You don't know what you've got till it's gone"
@charlieo_conn@madelinecampbll@DavidCastilloAC Combine: 5'10 172, probably 180-185 by now. Drysdale size.
Wonder if they saw something in his skating they think they can fix.
He's legitimate in that Wheeler had him #3 in the Dallas system (however, Dallas ranked 31st). So there's potential upside, but probably AHL move.
@charlieo_conn Flyer fans have to have realistic expectations, he's not a great skater, he's not very physical, and doesn't have great defensive instincts.
On offense, he needs to play with linemates who can carry the puck, best in the O-zone, setting up plays. Great vision and wrist shot.
@charlieo_conn Be nice. If you had Russia as your next store neighbor, you'd want something to distract you!
Abols is a nice story, though I think his future is more 4LW than 4C.
@JHallNBCS Neither Ginning nor Andrae viable at RHD.
Andrae - Zamula was also a "fail."
So Juulsen at RHD until Risto returns.
If Andrae stays up, Ginning should go down.
He's AHL+ with little upside.
@charlieo_conn Briere and Tocchet have to balance PO shot this season with the future, Dvorak on 1 year deal.
Next season, Grebenkin, Martone and Jett all push for top 9 role. Not to ignore Bump, Barkey and maybe Gendron.
So Grebenkin may be gradually phased in this season.
@charlieo_conn Fans have been bitching about Flyer development for years.
But look at Risto and Seeler.
Drysdale was a mess when he arrived from Anaheim.
Zegras already looks much better.
Cates, 5th rd AHL+ to 2C.
Brink, undersized 2nd rd pick to 2RW.
Think the problem has been players.
@adamscochran You obviously don't know what socialism is either.
Americans have never supported socialism.
What they've supported are redistribution programs, but generally with a certain Puritan tinge, "the deserving poor."
And populist resentment of all elites, including the rich.
@charlieo_conn Strange game. Ersson gives up a "softee" then a rock the rest of the game, Crosby goal was as lucky as it gets. Foerster wins game, no he doesn't.
Brink wins game on a wicked shootout move.
Flyers dominated for 40 minutes, then couldn't respond to Pen's end of game push.
@charlieo_conn They had Ginning, for what that's worth.
Andrae off to good start for Phantoms, this may be another tryout opportunity.
Juulsen set for now at RHD, b/c Risto, Bonk, Samson injured (Gill as well, Flyer RHDs are like Spinal Tap drummers).
