Executive Director, @YIMBYDems. CEO, @EpicImmersive. Building the next Renaissance of American cities and stories. Plus travel and the San Francisco Giants.
I did not live through Al Qaeda's 7/7 attack on the London Underground only to be called "directly responsible for terrorism" by Donald Trump.
We cannot choose our era, but we can choose our friends and actions. And I do believe the only thing we have to fear is fear itself.
When @SteveMBoyleEpic shared his own experiences surviving terrorism with @RepFriedmanCA on 9/8 and asked where she found the courage, she shared that she is fueled by the honor of serving all Americans.
Trump may be Fascist, but his voters aren't.
There is a way forward.
@LindsayJS Genuinely don't understand (other than, you know, the law) why we don't do more with rooftops! Prime gathering spots and potential commercial spaces!
As the #Knicks rallied with a game-winning 2-pointer, NYers held their number 1! At the final whistle & for the next 7 mins, NYC saw a water‑use spike equal to 368,697 🚽 flushes! As the Knicks surged, we fought the urge… because we knew the team was on the verge… OF HISTORY!
It’s noteworthy that almost every example you see of NYC reaching epic levels during this Knicks run involves human beings taking over spaces usually devoted to cars. 🤷
Oooo I’m Zohran Mamdani my wife is super hot and my football team won its first Prem in 23 years and my basketball team is about to be champions for the first time since 1973. Literally grow up man.
YIMBYs keep winning in Sacramento. But it's critical we make sure cities follow the law.
As attorney general, @XavierBecerra was the first to sue a city for blocking housing and win. That changed what cities could get away with.
California YIMBY endorses him for Governor. 1/2
@mnolangray@YIMBYLAND For example, my favorite architecture prompts involve VERY familiar/conservative designs, which is to say: cultural vernaculars from long ago, adapted to today's scale. Essentially the approach of Neo-Andean architecture, rendered global.
If not original, it's at least rare?
Calling it now. People being able to clearly articulate an alternative architectural aesthetic will have a measurable impact on what gets built in the future.
We're going to have a Cambrian explosion of new architectural experiments *and* a return to previous forms.
Congratulations, @nithyavraman! I think she's what LA needs right now: a smart, capable outsider who will implement SB 79 and HLA, reform ULA, and speed up permitting!
Real ones know that the “housing bubble” of the Bush years was in many respects a downstream consequence of exclusionary zoning in California and the suburban northeast so all of history hinges on late 20th century growth control.
