The flydubai co-pilot has now told investigators he planned to crash a plane with people onboard, and that he decided that before the airline hired him. So his attack on the pilot wasn’t him snapping. It was him trying to carry out his mission. He failed because of the people onboard, starting with the pilot.

He said he picked flydubai because it flies to Tel Aviv. Hiring him was the failure. The fact that the process didn’t screen him out is the part that should worry every airline, not just this one.

Hamam al-Hammami, an Omani citizen, was the co-pilot on flight FZ1073 from Dubai to Tel Aviv on September 30. He attacked Captain Smit Machchhar. Machchhar got the cockpit door open anyway. Passengers, crew, and two off-duty pilots stopped al-Hammami and landed the Boeing 737 in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia. Nobody died.

Israeli officials briefed on the UAE probe said Monday that al-Hammami’s plan was to keep flying as if nothing had happened, get landing clearance, and crash the plane into Ben Gurion airport or a tower in Tel Aviv. He said he looked up which airline flies to Tel Aviv and applied to flydubai for that reason. Investigators say he most likely acted alone.

He had already flown the route this year. Officials say he meant to crash the plane on that earlier flight and then didn’t. So this wasn’t a breakdown on September 30. It was a plan he carried onto more than one trip to Israel, and the only reason the first one didn’t happen is that he waited.

Acting alone doesn’t make the hiring of him cleaner. The UAE has called him an extremist who was banned from flying in Oman. He still ended up in the co-pilot seat on a flight to Israel. He applied for that route on purpose for evil reasons, and flydubai gave it to him.

The main pilot, Machchhar, is the reason more than 180 people are alive. He was badly hurt, the plane dove, and he still got the cockpit door open so others could help save the flight. India’s prime minister and Israel’s prime minister both called him a hero. They’re right.

Flydubai has suspended its Israel flights, and Emirates stopped selling seats on those flights under its own flight numbers. That’s the cleanup. The failure already happened. A man who chose the route so he could crash a plane, before he had the job, was allowed to fly it. The accounts still calling this a fight between pilots are behind the update, or they’re lying.

This was a planned terrorist attack by a man already banned from flying in Oman. Heroism stopped him and saved every life onboard. The process for hiring pilots needs to be stricter everywhere, because flydubai’s screening failed, and that reasonably calls every airline’s screening into question.

DHS's own watchdog just confirmed it. From 2021 to 2024, ICE got 3,145,375 leads on foreigners who overstayed their visas. It flagged 104,049 of them as possible national security or public safety threats.

They made eight arrests off those leads. Not eight thousand. Eight.

It gets worse. The most dangerous bucket, the Priority 1 cases that can include people on terror watchlists, had 1,769 leads. ICE opened 84 investigations and arrested two people.

Why? Mayorkas signed a memo in 2021 that told ICE to stand down on almost everybody. By the end of 2024, ICE couldn't even hand out 194 of its 205 top-priority cases because nobody had a real address. A lot of what CBP had on file were hotels and resorts.

One of these guys pleaded guilty to carrying a loaded gun and is now listed as a fugitive. Another racked up three convictions for credit card fraud, impersonation, and burglary, and ICE can't find him either.

This is the open border nobody talks about. It didn't walk across the Rio Grande. It flew in, got a stamp, and never left.

Trump killed that memo on day one. Now go find every single one of them.

I’m guessing this refers to conversations with Todd Blanche, who represented the president at the time in both the Alvin Bragg indictment and docs indictment in FLA.

Bragg announced the indictment against the president the following week.
