The legislature passed a Clean Water Protection Act in 1989. A group of scientists reviewed the Act this year and is suggesting new legislation, updating the Act with a more aggressive response to the challenges threatening our groundwater. #WoodburyMN #WaterIsLife

We haven’t passed a firearm safety bills while I’ve been in the House. But with the help of our non-partisan House Research Department, I’ve drafted a new “Firearm Safety and Education Bill”

I’ve joined Sen.Steve Cwodzinski as co-author of a bill that will require the State Senate to act on a governor’s nominated commissioners within 60 days of their appointment. “Common Sense,” you say. I think so, too. We’ll see how much common sense there is among the Republicans.

Both Congress and our State Legislature are stuck in partisan threats and bickering while important issues of our economy and public health are delayed. The U.S. Congress is mired in disputes over the debt ceiling, infrastructure programs, and personal animosities.

In St.Paul, the Governor is hesitant to call a special session of the legislature to deal aid for farmers and financial recognition for front-line workers because the Republican leaders of the State Senate continue to threaten dismissal of Jan Malcom, our commissioner of health.
