Sharing the keynote with my co-lead investigator Katie Slattery @KatieSlattery3 at the @theAIS Performance Teams Forum + Sport Technology & Research Symposium was a huge honour.

A strong conclusion but I like it!
"If training research continues as present the field runs the risk of not only becoming detached but increasingly irrelevant to those it is trying to help"
Here, we asked Coaches a basic question: What are the core drivers of training adaptation?
The academic literature suggests the obvious: The nature & extent of physical training.
Coaches didn't necessarily agree.

The skilled intuition of a highly experienced coach should not be under valued.
However, "the use of objective data and reflection of subjective assessments should be used to assist a coach to refine their expertise". https://t.co/rlHQ5UOFsC
Getting the learner to self explain....
This made me think of some of the great analogies for how people explain, understand and then relate complex ideas to their practice in sport!

Latest from @erin_mccleave - combining heat training (3 x per week) with simulated LHTL (3 weeks @ 3000 m for 13 hours per day) may negatively affect some of the adaptations conferred by heat training - what to do for Tokyo 2020? https://t.co/nApPdTU4JY
Big opportunity for a motivated individual to do a PhD in endurance performance with @UTS_Health & @theNSWIS examining optimising training intensity distribution in elite and developing endurance cyclists https://t.co/3ATZMb01xy
