@Owler_Nook New Mills Central and New Mills Newtown are treated as one. On the National Rail journey planner the first leg of some trips from one is to walk to the other.
@borderlandsbike@mr_andy_kelly Legally it's criminal damage. But then I do guerilla tree planting and subsequent maintenance and that's criminal damage too. The world has got its priorities wrong. Go for it lads.
@carltonreid@activetraveleng ATE are reliant on local authority engineers to feed them schemes. And that's where the bottleneck could lie. ATE don't do design. Ideally everyone would commission @TransportInit but we have a finite number of staff much as we'd love to help spend the money.
@Ben_A_Hopkinson@createstreets Just read the thread not the complete report. But if French cities with 150k pop can have trams then the proposed Tempsford new town with 250-300k pop should be built around a couple of lines. Ideally it should be a bike fed transit oriented design but that's for another post.
@premnsikka#LowerThamesCrossing is a mistake, however funded. Outdated, failing method for tackling congestion. Evidence shows LTC will not reduce Dartford Crossing traffic after 5 years.
Ditch it, invest in buses, walking, cycling, better housing planning.
@TransportActio2@RachelReevesMP
@seatsixtyone@HistoryToday It's slightly more difficult than it used to be with more trains needing supplements and booking. The I'm fed up with this city I need to go NOW options are more restricted and there are fewer turn up & go overnight trains as free hotels. But worth doing. Pic: Trondhiem to Bodo
@Brog1_1 A couple of points. There are a number of variations of something called a Circulating Stage Junction. Cyclops is one, the Lea Bridge Road is another and something the Dutch call a scramble junction is a third. And yes the design is safer than a true 'Dutch Roundabout in the UK
@H_H_Gray I pointed out to Warrington that there was no connection to the road at the bottom left of your picture. This could form part of a route towards Dallam avoiding some nasty roads. Still it would have upset the purity of the design.
@gazzabiker@roadcc Nice idea. But while we wait for the motor industry PCPs to implode (and they will) we do want people to hang onto their bikes and continue using them.
@TransportActio2 In the same way as you should be wary of a piece of equipment whose instruction manual is bigger than it is, then should be even more wary of a road scheme whose documentation is longer than it is.
@Owler_Nook @H_H_Gray @slowbikeiain @TheBlueUlysses@WalkRideGM You could remove the need for right turn pockets by taking out the bus lane on the approach to the junction so that general traffic could use that piece of carriageway if required. Remember that buses are big enough to assert their presence.
@ItsMatt_Again If Stockport Council believes that car traffic is essential for a town's economy then it should throttle traffic on that part of the A6 as it would (in their eyes) relatively benefit Stockport over Manchester.
Today is 'Cycle to Work Day'. Working from home means the commute is usually the stairs to the attic. But by chance I needed to take some measurements of two bikes (different turning circles) today so it's 'Cycle to Site with Two Bikes Day'.
