🚨Paper Alert!
Check out our latest work, now published in @FrontNeurosci. We show how this remarkable fish surprisingly displays mammalian-like injury responses after optic nerve transection.

🚨New preprint out!🚨
I’m excited to share the latest work by @AnyiZhang2 and me, which shows that mTORC1-dependent transient dendritic pruning is essential for efficient axonal regeneration in spontaneously regenerating zebrafish neurons.

My final paper as a PhD student has officially been published in @AgingCell. Big thanks to all the authors involved, especially @NCLNoel, @LucaMasin, @phruzycki, @Brian_S_Clark and @MacDonald_Lab for the enormous help while producing this wonderful paper!
Next stop? PhD defence
First a preprint, now officially published in @AgingCell. Find out more on "Age-related dysregulation of the retinal transcriptome in African turquoise killifish" by clicking the link below:

Two new preprints from the lab this week.
The first, a collaboration with @LabMoons, @MacDonald_Lab, and @phruzycki (led by @StevenBergmans and @NCLNoel) examining how gene expression changes with age in the fast-aging killifish model.
This project started as two labs working on the same idea and ended in a true collaboration between @LabMoons @phruzycki @Brian_S_Clark and ourselves. Both first authors @StevenBergmans @NCLNoel deserve tons of credit. This is an exciting new research direction for our lab.
Happy to have been part of this great collaboration.
One of the most important papers in my PhD trajectory, where we show how the transcriptome of the killifish becomes dysregulated when the little fish gets old.
Interested in how the vertebrate retina ages? Check our latest pre-print: "Age-related dysregulation of the retinal transcriptome in African turquoise killifish".
A great collab by: @StevenBergmans @NCLNoel @ArckensLab @phruzycki @phruzycki @MacDonald_Lab@Brian_S_Clark
Interest in how axons can fuel their regeneration? Check out our new preprint “Local glycolysis supports injury-induced axonal regeneration”.
A joint effort by me, @StevenBergmans @vandyckannelies @GroefLies @FarrowLab @LabMoons
Today, our very own @StevenBergmans presented a part of our latest findings and insights at The Obergurgle Optic Nerve Meeting, delving into the atypical responses observed in the fast-aging killifish following optic nerve injury! 🐠🐠🔬

Excited to see my hands gaining recognition! The real focus is on the strength of that small fish—understanding aging's impact on life, regeneration, and degeneration. Explore the protocols in this issue and the October edition.

A new issue of CSH Protocols is out!
The cover image features the work of Vanhunsel, @StevenBergmans & @LabMoons (@KU_Leuven), who describe a paradigm to induce and study both de- and regeneration of retinal ganglion cells and their axons in killifish. Links below! ⬇️
