At RMEF, we’re not just conserving what’s here today, we’re creating what’s possible for tomorrow. That means more access, healthier habitats and a stronger future for all big game.
The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation applauds the MABA 250 strategic initiative launched yesterday by Secretary Burgum and the MABA Commission as it aligns with RMEF’s priorities of improved access, stewardship, voluntary conservation and habitat enhancement. We are particularly thrilled by the $8 million boost for big-game migration corridor grants to the states, and builds on President Trump's first term accomplishments in Secretarial Order 3362.

Montana FWP is offering a cash reward of up to $1,000 for information related to an unlawfully killed bull elk left to waste on private property. Only the head and backstraps were removed from the bull and all other meat was wasted.
The bull was discovered 13 miles west of Roundup, on Horsethief Road. The incident likely occurred between Jan. 30 and Feb 1. Hunting in the area closed Dec. 21, 2025. Hunters are prohibited from wasting any part of a game animal that is suitable for food.
FWP is urging anyone with information about who is responsible to report it.
RMEF partnered with for 2026 to spread the word and stop poaching.
