Goodbye for now Khayelitsha. An immensely challenging, rewarding and at times heartbreaking experience. I'm very grateful to all the doctors who have taught me lessons that I'll never forget, and made the start of my journey in EM a fun & unforgettable one.
@em_j_b @ross_moy The two trusts I work for don't have them, and the ones that do tend to only have Parapacs that are capable of very basic ventilation which is why transfers tend to require transfer trolleys (with proper ventilators) or dedicated vehicles
@JackBarton07 Yeah, most regions should have Palliative Care Guidelines that cover all of these things which is really helpful out of hours! But 2.5-5mg SC to start, and then 10-20mg/24hrs in a syringe driver is what we use locally
@scullingmonkey I imagine exposure to the actual virus does in some way influence the vaccines duration of protection/efficacy but probably lots of variables and unknowns! Will just get my 2nd dose to be safe 💉
I think we need to think about how long a ‘good clerking’ (and we likely won’t reach consensus on this definition) actually takes
The most recent data suggests it takes 22 mins for an SHO to clerk a patient.

Final year UK med student here. Going public with some experiences of a compulsory online exam. Summary: students threatened with disqualification from becoming doctors (in a pandemic) due to problems with online exams (incl. some being forced to urinate in their seats)
@scullingmonkey My symptoms started on the 2nd and had my test on the 3rd, and yet no Track & Trace so far. I'm almost half way through now.. (not that I have any significant contacts other than my housemates, but still). Hope you feel better soon!
Well thats me off for the next 10 days. Not surprising after New Year nights was almost entirely COVID related presentations. Thankfully only mild symptoms for now. #StayHome
