@LoyalMarieeee@WinterSportsLaw I think it varies by university. If the 1st day of class is Aug. 24 and you turn 19 on Aug. 23, the clock starts ticking.
@Stmckay04@WinterSportsLaw Originally, it was supposed to be an athlete’s first 5 years out of high school, but then hockey threw a fit because that would affect their junior leagues by shifting the ages from 17-19 down to ages 16-18. They got their way and now most athletes get a gap yr after hs grad.
@JohnQPinkney@TalkTonysTakes It’s because the league doesn’t allow Montreal, Toronto, or New York to use their deep pockets. That sounds like big govt. to me, Mr. MAGA! Keep in mind that it’s been 1994 since the NYR won the Cup.
@OurLeafsNation@NHL The salary cap should be after taxes. To keep it simple, only use federal, state, and provincial income taxes in the equation. If a player is under contract to make $13M per year, and receives 13 paychecks per year, he takes home $1M per paycheck after taxes.
@Edgam1303@MurphysLaw74 My statement was 100% true. The NHL clearly has a competitive balance problem, but they have no incentive to fix it unless the northern U.S. and/or Canadian fans start walking away in droves, which doesn’t appear to be happening.
@glimmerinplay@Raiderfrank65 It’s only bad for the league if Canadian and blue state fans start tuning out in mass numbers. I don’t see that happening anytime soon.
@Edgam1303@MurphysLaw74 Nice try, but the majority of hockey fans, even in blue states, are conservative. This IS an NHL problem, but they have 0 incentive to fix it.
@ku_grant Whatever you want to call it. I’m just sick of FC this, Sporting that, United this, scarves, stupid chants, huge flags, etc. Let’s blaze our own trail!
@things_sox If our most athletic kids that are averaged-sized and smaller would realize that soccer is their best path, it would change everything. Parents push these kids into the American sports and get frustrated over lack of playing time due to their size.
@ScottNations It should be the preferred sport for average-sized and smaller kids. Too many highly-athletic kids get weeded out of the American sports because of their size.
