I'm💲fundraising 💲to go to Cairo and help Palestinian refugees on the ground there. I speak Egyptian and want to be of use. I will be bringing hygiene kits, clothes, and other necessities. If you'd like to contribute, please venmo me randa-jarrar and put Cairo in the comment.
Solid delivery by this reporter on a difficult subject. Describes what happened, notes how Bushnell's act follows a December self-immolation in Atlanta (instead of ignoring it), doesn't leave out why Bushnell said he did this—and doesn't flippantly ascribe it to "mental illness."
Hi all! Thanks for all the kind DMs, I am totally ok. What's not ok is the way @PENamerica & other art institutions condone genocide & pretend to be supportive of artists of color. We will not accept this nor will we work with them. Disrupting & resisting is our responsibility.

if you're a poet who has a bunch of ideas for a novel you can just write a list poem where every line starts "A novel in which" and go off, we'll understand this is both a glimpse into your interiority and a dialog with the world and a need to engage with its impermanence
I think, again, this calls into question the role of the review. I don’t think reviews are a place for “This was good and this was bad!” I think they are a space to explore what conversation(s) a book might having, how it engaged with other literature and history and society.
The arts and culture magazine I dream of starting would be like The Believer, Art Forum, Tin House, Vulture, The Ringer, and Harriet had a baby, and I would pay $1K minimum for poetry book reviews. All reviews would pay $1K but poetry would be raised to the level of Succession
BREAKING: scientists warn of certain mass death on Earth within around 30 to 60 years due to global capitalism's industrial activities without actually using the words 'certain mass death' or 'capitalism' 🧵
