Some years back, a local county decided it needed more revenue and reassessed home values at close to double their existing values. Voila! Property taxes skyrocketed along with subsequent tax revenues. Those of you defending property taxes on home owners are advocating an endless, limitless, tax fund on homes that people already paid taxes for many times over. And if the amount increases to some ridiculous level which you are unable to handle, the locality can simply take your home.

Honestly, your ERMAGHERD TEH SKULZ argument is complete equine excrement. Tax monies are fungible. There is no lockbox (absent some local laws mandating such a tax money set aside) for property taxes. It's all just money to be spent. So you are supporting a particular tax that the government can increase whenever it feels like it and if you are unable to pay, screw you. Good to know.

WWII killed approximately 4% of the global population.

You are effectively crossing a national border.... A whole different legal system , laws, different lefislature, Executive and military, etc unrelated to the previous state only bound by limits of the State Constitution and some of the national Constitution.

This shouldn't be hard to get . The states are essentially countries agreeing that the Federal fovernment deals with external relatioons primarily and to provide a restraint od power by a state and vice versa. The States provide military support to Federal forces, and retain their own forces along with police...

federal police mostly don't exist... at all. We have US Marshals and various investigative afents , but there is no national gendarmy/police
