If US really wants to do this, they need a hell of a lot more than the 20,000 ground troops they have in the region. They need a million men & Allies to pull that off.

If US really wants to do this, they need to go full gulf war mode, and bring in 500,000 - a million men with intensive allied support.

This logic doesn’t even make sense anymore, and barely made sense in the first place, given the vast amount of equipment Russia has lost vs US supplied equipment loss. The vast majority of equipment on both sides was post-Soviet.

The program being talked about was an eradication program in Panama. 70 years ago we successfully got rid of the worm in US & Central America, and have been using Panama as a choke point keep it from spreading.
